Sales Days

Hello Developers, Hi Jason,

as i am frequently promoting the game on our website, and post every DD and every Sale info, i was asked by a member about a fact, i've never thought about before.

"Why are SALES, at the end of the month, where less people have money left for the game to spend, wouldn't it make more sense make a Sale, at the beginning of a month?"

What do you think, should the Dev's change their "Sales Dates"?

I would say yes!

From a personal standpoint, I am fine with the sales dates as I get paid on the 25th each month and then overtime and all that stuff comes on the 10th next month. At the same time, I don't think I have bought any IL2 stuff on sale (maybe one of the single planes, but I am not sure), since I do have disposable income and I usually fall for the hype, since all that has been done with the sim since Jason's grand comeback has been nothing short of stellar (now give me that damn Dora already! please?).

That said, I think OP may have a good point here. If the idea behind sales is to get those with lower income on board at a more affordable price then it would make total sense to have a sale right after they got their salaries.

On the other had, there is the question of people who buy stuff at full price, because they can afford to - would they still be inclined to pay full price, if there was a sale right after they get their money?

As much as this sounds like "all about the profit", I think it may not be an unreasonable idea to perhaps make a survey here specifically about people's general income and when it comes, as well when in the month and how much a given customer is willing to spend - that way devs could get at least an estimate of their customer-base and maybe get more out of these sales?

One thing that also comes to mind might be the fact that the game is on Steam as well and the sales there probably have their own rules as to when, so the dates might be tied to that.

Nevertheless, I think that this might be a good thing to bring to the developer's attention. Personally, I don't really feel sales affect me, since at full price, I feel I get good value for money with IL2, great value even. But I would also like the company's profit to grow, since this generally translates to a better product all around and so far has been true for at least the past two years.

Where I live getting paid once a month is the exception. Everyone I know gets paid biweekly throughout the year. So a couple months of the year you have 3 paycheques because of the pay period cycle. For me the only thing that matters is whether i have the money left in my budget for the month or not. End of the month is good for sales because I can say "Ah, I have X amount in the budget left I can spend how I want, i can afford a new game!"
