If a server allowed the 'Screen View' (No cockpit) do you guys think a Gunsight SIM Peripheral would be viable? I mean you think anyone would buy it? There would cave to be  calibration marks on the monitor to center the cross hairs. I think there could be a market for it. What say you all?

It would be nice.  Falcon BMS has this feature.   This said, I'm sure someone would probably use to gain an advantage in multiplayer, so it might also require adding the ability for a server operator to turn it off.

I don't see value of this kind of gadget, perhaps have use in VR - what I don't try.

With monitor you are looking in 2D screen, and this game (IL2:GB) don't provide a "non cockpit" (aka IL-2 "wonder woman) view, so you have to deal with two gunsight's overlapped.

Maybe interest an very "hard head Grognard" cockpit maker, for what the form is more important than the functionality.

Guys this is not a VR third party plug in. It is a physical peripheral like a flight stick.

Nah, it would be pointless in VR, as you have a perfect virtual gunsight there already.

Lets be realistic - the only time such a peripheral _might_ be useful would be in a fixed forward view only. It might look cool in a home built virtual cockpit, but I can't see it being functional.

Most of us have moved well beyond this - first with hat-switch based head movements, followed by TrackIR as of 2002 and now Virtual Reality which has the gun sights working perfectly!

Something you use to obstruct your monitor view with, just because it looks cool? Given that it is useless in VR, and incompatible with head-tracking, I can't see the market for it at all. We already have in-game gunsights which do the job without all the issues this would create.

Edit: It is probably worth pointing out that for this to be usable as a gunsight at all, either the player is going to have to close one eye, or the optics are going to have to somehow reproduce the focused-at-infinity optical characteristics of a real reflector gunsight. Which will be rather expensive, and unsatisfactory since the monitor isn't at infinity. The only way to avoid such problems would be to have the reticle right up against the monitor, which then wouldn't accurately represent the historical sight.

It's not for VR.

Yes, you have already said that. How about explaining exactly how it is going to work, given the fact that it is going to necessarily be closer to the player than the monitor? Are you proposing that it should have real reflector gunsight optics?
