This is a rather interesting article about Nvidia's strategy with the 20- series cards and the suspect pricing on this cards.

I think it's pretty obvious that NVidia's pricing strategy on the 20-series cards is intended to help them clear stock of the 10-series. Pricing here in Canada isn't as stark, though -- I only paid a 16% premium to get the 2080 instead of a 1080ti, not the 40% premium quoted in the video. It's unfortunate that AMD is nowhere to be seen; this is what happens when there's no competition.
