I use a 5.1 surround with speakers placed in the proper positions around my desk. I only use my Turtle Beach headset for comms. It's more realistic for me this way. This is how it is in reality when flying. Obviously you would not have the engine sounds and stuff playing through your comms headset in real life. Keep in mind, I only fly multiplayer though.

I recommend buying previous or even older generation mid-line studio monitors. To use them properly you will need a couple cables and a bare-bones audio interface/DAW. Find used ones and pay half price. Flat response with crystal clear sound is far superior than subwoofer bass boosted autism.

As far as headphones go, DO NOT BUY "Gaming" ANYTHING. Look into products designed for audiophiles/music production...

above comment well understood , before going further and search for the equipment which i can find easily in Bangkok are the engine sounds of this sim  authentic ? for example i only have BOS  so  is the DB605 engine sound on the BF 109 F4 as authentic as the real one ? In the old days we had copies off all the real engine sounds to add In CFS2 , one enthusiast actually went around at air shows recording the real sounds on the tarmac , same in IL2 mod .In IL2 MOD when i start the BF109 engine using MOD sounds you feel the rumble in and outside the cockpit , flying in F2 is a pleasure ,same goes for many models .  The BOS Yak engine sound sounds so poor outside the cockpit and inside its just a fuzzy distortion of sounds . No point investing in a sound upgrade if the game sounds are just noisy generics .

here is my sound .

NETSCAPE

where can i find more info and images off the equipment you recommended above ? this will help me a lot in my looking around .

You should also consider headphones. You can't beat them for sound quality/price ratio.

As long as who you live with / near doesn't mind nothing beats a good pair of studio monitor speakers :)

Love my Klipsch 2.1 sound system.

Since getting the Rift I really don't use it anymore for gaming, for music and vids it is fantastic.

Also have a Klipsch Sound Bar with Sub for my TV, it is pretty great also for that.

Been a fan of them for a long time.

Still using the beastly Logitech z5500 surround speakers for movies. But I like good headphones for flying on PC.
