Natives-Soul_Finger Posted October 18, 2018 Posted October 18, 2018 (edited) Does one get any more benefit from any additional crew members their aircraft may have other than acting as a gunner? As far as I can tell one does not. You do pay the full penalty in performance though. Has having navigators turn on navigation markers in expert mode been discussed. Or do other crew members spot aircraft when out of their gun range? I imagine that a navigator wouldn't always be a great spotter but they should be able to spot a lot of the time, no? I imagine two+ seaters would be more attractive planes to fly if the crew did give the benefits they should. Edited October 18, 2018 by VicNighthorse 1
-SF-Disarray Posted October 18, 2018 Posted October 18, 2018 Well, in a way, the gun crew spot for you; just not in the most helpful way. They will call out enemy contact without fail and they will never misidentify those contacts. The down side is they don't tell you anything beyond, "hay, there is a guy with a gun over there." In reality they should call out some direction and possibly distance along with it to help out the rest of the crew react accordingly. For the other gunners this is kind of worked around as the AI gunners have perfect awareness, going so far as to sense planes, possibly via the Force, through the skin of the plane; or maybe it is picking up minute vibrations or something like that. On more than a few occasions these call outs have enabled me to evade attacks that I otherwise would not have been aware of prior to the first rounds streaking past the plane or making contact and I've seen bombers I was in the process of attacking do the same thing when I was sure there was no way the pilot could have seen me. It isn't perfect but it is there.

Also doesn't help if you don't understand German or Russian.
-SF-Disarray Posted October 18, 2018 Posted October 18, 2018 Pro tip: If you are in a bomber and your gunners say anything it isn't good for you no matter what language they are speaking and you don't. 1 1
Natives-Soul_Finger Posted October 18, 2018 Author Posted October 18, 2018 (edited) I'd really like to fly the 110 (and even Ju-87s) more, but not being Arianne Scharfi, I really need those missing advantages from my crewmate. More appropriate missions for the 110 would be nice also. Sorry to those this made little sense too, I am pretty tired and suffering from at least a cold. I'll reconsider it in the morning. Gambit21 Posted October 19, 2018 Posted October 19, 2018 I talked to your crew members from whom you're apparently not getting enough benefits, and they informed me that they've been silent because they want more benefits from YOU. Medical, dental, vision, paid vacation, paternity leave, bereavement leave, 90 minute lunch breaks, Christmas bonuses, flight gear expenses covered, 8 hour days and a 3 day work week. 4 1
Feathered_IV Posted October 19, 2018 Posted October 19, 2018 The other crewmen are just there for decoration. You can’t ask your navigator for a heading for example or anything else of the sort. You could fly past enemy ships all day and nobody would think to mention it. The good news though is that there are no more flyable bombers planned for the series, so the issue will only be limited to the small handful of aircraft we already have.

I want a mod where when you ask them to do something, they berate you in a deep Scottish accent. Even funnier because you know...they're Russian or German.
J2_Oelmann Posted October 19, 2018 Posted October 19, 2018 The game would benefit from a proper radio menue not only for your crew. You could add one branch for your co-pilot in it. Would be great if he calls out fuel, temperature or whatever. 1

Feathered_IV Posted October 19, 2018 Posted October 19, 2018 I’d like all the crewmen to talk like a certain beloved plumber Ay! It’s a me!! Mario!
Danziger Posted October 19, 2018 Posted October 19, 2018 I'd like them to bring back the gunner yelling when you pull high g moves.
