dburne Posted October 15, 2018 Posted October 15, 2018 Looks promising: https://vrboard.io/oculus-rifts-asw-2-0-could-greatly-reduce-artifacts-on-low-end-systems.html However would require significant effort from games that use custom engines, like our combat flight sims. For those that do support it, sounds like would provide a better experience at lower framerates. 1
peregrine7 Posted October 16, 2018 Posted October 16, 2018 So long as the depth buffer is available already (and I think this is the case), ASW 2 should be either in without any effort from the devs or with minimal effort.
=SqSq=switch201 Posted October 18, 2018 Posted October 18, 2018 I was just about to make a post about this. it looks like the game will need to provide oculus with a "depth feed" value. quote from the article: Quote The caveat to ASW 2.0 however is that it requires the app to submit its depth feed, whereas ASW 1.0 worked without any developer support needed. I am hoping that if this is implemented it finally gets rid of the prop artifacts we tend to see when ASW kicks in.
