bivalov Posted February 5, 2014 Posted February 5, 2014 during autumn BOS'42, u-2 were used with l-2s for attack operations in twilight, as bombers and as planes with SABs ie lighting bombs... in total, u-2 needful for game, almost like il-2 or just little less... although, looks like, during BOS were used very different and sometimes old planes, it's could be problem, in some sense..
79_vRAF_Friendly_flyer Posted February 5, 2014 Posted February 5, 2014 It could be an extremely exiting campaign, but it will require a rework of the AI. Their only defence is to fly low and hide, and that needs to work. This means work on subjects such as AI reacting differently to cockpit ligts on and off, fog, clods, ravines etc. I'm all for that though.
VBF-12_Gosling-71 Posted February 6, 2014 Posted February 6, 2014 (edited) The ability of an AI to spot and react to other game entities, particularly players, is an interesting area. Things like being obscured (hills), camouflage, lighting, sky lining, range, object size, sun, structure (behind and beneath), prediction of flight path etc, etc all come into it. Getting it right will be a major achievement. At the moment the AI seem a little "super human vision" in their ability to know where I am when I fail to see them even when I know I'm looking in the correct area of sky! Finkeren Posted February 7, 2014 Posted February 7, 2014 I may be seeing something that isn't there, but in BoS it seems to me, that the AI has trouble spotting you, if you're hiding on his six o'clock low, so it might not be completely out of the picture to have a realistic "Night-Witches" campaign. I so long for a movie or TV-series commemorating those brave Po-2 pilots. We have plenty of stories about US and British bomber crews and their exploits, but these pale in comparison with the Po-2 crews.
