pitch trim at start-up

Can you change the pitch trim that planes start up with in missions, especially quick missions. When I start a mission, my pitch trim (camera zoom and rudder trim also in there own fashion) always appears to be set quite a bit to the negative. It is a hassle on quick missions and career mission where you take off right away.

You can use f10 to save a default head position. I’m pretty sure this includes the zoom but not the trim.

Nope

Well,

you can revert them all to NULL. There's a key combination for it, and you can also assign a joystick button to it. All existing trims for that particular aircraft will be set to their null positions.

Pitch trim on startup seems to be either your last trim setting when spawning on the ground or a trim that reflects flight speed at air start. This will naturally be negative. It is a good idea to assign a trim reset button.

What bothers me on the other hand is that planes seem to do engine startup a full coarse prop settings. I mean, who would do that? It is very hard to crank up the prop if you put the blades into the wind like that. AFAIR (I have to check) the Yak was not possible to start up if you stopped the engine with the prop in coarse position. You can only move it to fine once you have pressure in the system. And if you cannot crank up the prop, you cannot build up pressure.

The start trims and stabilizers are the default position for cruise settings.

The Japanese during early WW2 extensively used Hamilton Standard's constant speed counterweight propeller made by Sumitomo.  The propeller blade mounted counterweight was used to move the blades toward course while governor controlled engine oil pressure moved the blades toward fine (a one-way oil piston).  At engine shutdown the blades went to course pitch with the loss of oil pressure before stopping and aircraft like the Zero and Dinah can be seen on the ground with their blades at a relatively course setting because of this.  With start-up, building engine oil pressure moved the blades back to fine.  WW2 Japanese propeller technology eventually moved toward the Hamilton Standard Hydromatic's style of two-way oil piston* and so those aircraft so equipped retain low pitch at shutdown.

*There are an early (1938-9) and late (the rest of all time) version which has the late version swapping the function of engine and governor oil pressure.

Pitch Rudder and or aileron trim on startup were added by the devs AFAIK my understanding is these are the best trims set for the planes top level cruise speed stated in the specs.

If you take off with these settings on a standard 20*C map then fly with power settings used in specs you will reach the stated speeds.

they are purely best trims for inflight input by the devs so people can just take off and fly.

not always the best trims for taking off tho and often need to be reset to take off correctly
