Ground effect is a “thing” even if it’s a “small” aircraft.

WWII aircraft are a lot heavier than your Cessna. So yes, you should feel the aircraft settling to the runway more quickly. This is a good thing. You don’t need insane glide ratios and it’s annoying for an aircraft to just float forever. Ask any U-2 pilot...
