[Pb]Death-Merchant Posted October 7, 2018 Posted October 7, 2018 I've been trying to improve my bombing accuracy using the Soviet bomb site. It seems that the altitude of the target should be taken into account when setting the altitude in the bomb site. How does one determine the altitude of the target?

=TBAS=Sshadow14 Posted October 9, 2018 Posted October 9, 2018 if you fly on moscow or stalingrad maps the altitude does not really matter as the entire map is only like 0-100m above seal level (so the error is minimal) If you fly on kuban map and bombing ontop of the biggest mountain you can fly over than you looking at 800m correction but still it will not be far off.. Keep in mind while these sights ingame look very realistic they are also very arcady and extremely accurate - More accurate than modern bombsight and bombs on a B52 or A10 (dumb bombs - unguided)You can place 44 x 50KG bombs down 1200m of runway from 10,000m Alt While using Auto Turn and only putting in the following target data Airspeed, True Alt, Wind speed & Direction from 5,000m info (ALL of the bombs will land on the runway within 10m of the crosshair)

I had not noticed a problem until I was trying to bomb a factory in the mountains on the Kuban map. My bombs were short on every run, which lead me to believe it was a problem with altitude correction. Thanks for the info. I'll work something out.
TP_Jacko Posted October 10, 2018 Posted October 10, 2018 There is a default key combo to set the altimeter to the nearest airfield altitude that may help. The key stroke is something like Alt+A. No 100% sure

I've tested it numerous times but thanks for the input. I'll continue testing different methods.
JimTM Posted October 10, 2018 Posted October 10, 2018 This method works for me. Make sure to set your final altitude in the bombsight using the reading from your cockpit altimeter, not the bombsight one.
