adler_1 Posted October 7, 2018 Posted October 7, 2018 i want to make videos and both my softwares icecream and ezvid require windowed mode . Fraps which does'nt require so is excellent but the free edition will only go for 30 secs .
montag Posted October 7, 2018 Posted October 7, 2018 Not a direct answer to your question, but Open Broadcast Software can be used for recording and is free and can record full screen. Also if you have a Nvidia card you can use GeForce experience.
=TBAS=Sshadow14 Posted October 7, 2018 Posted October 7, 2018 Go into Game options >> Graphics>> and turn off fullscreen.. Or just use something like OBS then record watever you want fullscreen or not.
Guest deleted@50488 Posted October 7, 2018 Posted October 7, 2018 The answer to the OP question was already given, but I would just like to add that sometime ago I read that actually windowed mode can provide better performance, or that there is no special advantage in not using it. Since then I've been using IL-2 Great Battles only in windowed mode.

Find a program that puts an FPS counter on your screen if you want to test this.
adler_1 Posted October 7, 2018 Author Posted October 7, 2018 (edited) yes i found OBS today and a good youtube tutorial and it works great , no need for windowed mode , just assign hot keys record stop . I now need to see in game in my missons how long is the maximum time per video . As for performance it has at least 3 options for lower end CPU's or higher end who want push further . Lots of features for the pro's , thanks for comments Edited October 7, 2018 by dog1

I've heard the same thing. I think it was Jason (can't remember though) that said fullscreen mode isn't really better and it is actually more beneficial to use windowed mode.

It may be now, but there was time, not too far back when windowed mode was suggested by one of the devs (Jason?). Don't recall the particulars but it was after one of the larger updates.

It was suggested after 3.001 when people were having trouble with jumpy frame rates etc. Not sure if they fixed the underlying culprit. I've been using the game according to those settings for some time.
Guest deleted@50488 Posted October 7, 2018 Posted October 7, 2018 Indeed, Jason himself suggested it, and I started using it with my GTX 960 since then, with good results, or at least certainly not worst than in full screen, and given I do not use Vsync, and limit FPS at 60.

Well, then I'd like to know how to make the adaptive-sync and the sync-off option from the nVidia panel work in a windowed mode.
adler_1 Posted October 9, 2018 Author Posted October 9, 2018 here is the link to a very good tutorial on OBS otvideo.info/video/Cp...orial.html and important is to chose record game as per image .
=TBAS=Sshadow14 Posted October 9, 2018 Posted October 9, 2018 yeah i saw that also but that guide must be for windows 10 users only or something as the guide from Jason for better FPS does not work and its bad.. I lost many fps and had to use lower preset with jasons settings (High preset 45-50fps) but with mine im on 50-60fps ultra preset on fullscreen
adler_1 Posted October 9, 2018 Author Posted October 9, 2018 i'm getting 79-80 constant even with traffic . My rig I7 3.4 Nvidia 1060 16 gig Ram .
