Hi Guys, was flying on Coconut normal  early this week and whilst I was on a mission to destroy those dastardly Huns a well known German Ace who I will not name but we all know who he is, logs in and takes off he then got into a fight with some A.I and lost the second the server message came up that he had been destroyed he disconnected from the sever then about five minutes later logs back in, I checked his stats at sever change and to my shock saw that his whole mission was not recorded for his stats on the campaign. infract it had a message in red saying that the pilots mission was not going to be counted on his stats due to disconnect. now I know why his stats are so good and he never gets killed as it seems as soon as he gets in a situation were he might loose his virtual life he pulls the plug and as far as his records go it never happened.

now I consider this an exploit of the scoring system and highly unfair. I wonder if it is possible to have disconnects counted as killed in action on our records its a price I am willing to pay to make the scoring system reflect the true quality of the pilots in the campaign and not to be abused by the regular stat padders we have on coconut right now. I have this incident on video so if there is any disputes as to what I am saying I can back it up.

Hi mate,

why should you bother about a cheater? Look, if a person needs to cheat to achieve any good results, tells us a lot about that individual. These persons are

anything but self-confident, they can't cope with failure nor are they willing to learn how to avoid another failure except with cheating.

Well, you see, one has to feel sorry for these persons - they will seldom evolve nor will they learn from their experience / mistakes.

So mate, forget about those "Aces" - enjoy your flight time and enjoy your willingness to learn and evolve.

It was like that for long time on Wings of liberty also, disconects would not harm you at all, but recently they changed it so if you get disconected you lose streak and new virtual life starts (same like it would if you get kia or captured) so all of sudden some players that had problems with disconecting "fix" thouse problems :)

and thats good thing they add to thir stats

only thing that is missing now on WoL regarding disconects count, is that disconecting sortie where you get damaged prior to disconect should  be counted as kia in your overall stats, so your overall points get down also and you cant just disconect to avoid that, now overall points count still dont get penalised disconect so there is still room for abusing the way stats look at this, and guy who last damaged you should get kill then.

People who are trying to fly with some semblence of simulation realism.  I care about stats...and my stats aren't even very good.  So do lots of people.  IL-2 is a competitive game, and games have scores, and the way to measure people's relative progress is through metrics.  Nothing wrong with that.  The OP is right to be annoyed... Honest players do their best, accept the reality of their stats even if they suck, learn from them, and try to get better...only weasels take shortcuts by doing stuff like intentionally diconnecting.

The OP needs to get out and meet some women.

Because he wants stats to be earned honestly?  For all anybody knows, that guy might have dozens of atractive women beating his door down, and IL-2 is his chance to retreat to his man-cave and take a break from it all.

I hope he has to beat them off with a sh*%ty stick......but somehow,  I doubt he does.

I think this applies to many Russian pilots on many servers because they cannot bail out of a dead plane in high speed dive (no explosive bolts)
So many (not all but Many) just Leave server or if the mission has a timer they Alt F4 so they dont hit the deck and crash.

Stats are a way to measure you improvments and as you gain skill stats reflect this and you can see where your weaknesses are
(eg combat is fine but emergency landings suck so you lose many planes like this a good thing to train in)

stats are also a way to expose cheaters and exploiters
(those who fall within small bracket of top 5% players then 1 person is 100 times better than anyone else in the game, like used in sports stats are enough to prove cheating (as super humans are general not real)
Eg, if top 10 players out of 10,000 people have a KDR of 15-1 then 1 player has a KDR of of 45-1 its a good bet he is a cheater and enough to ban them.

i can understand that this behaviour produces some saltiness , mainly because most of the coconuts players are really good sportsmen.

This one unfortunately not. He just loves his Bf Alt F4. So just imagine the leaderboard without his name and don`t let it destroy your fun in the game.

See you in the skies.

I consider those „disapearing“ planes in my sights as clean kills. Some are even daft enough doing it on Berloga.

Hawker, the person you are referring to got banned on other servers for  the mentioned behaviour (amongst other things)  , so it is probably best to ignore his position in the stats, because he seems not to be willing to play fair. I dont get, why he is so eager to play multiplayer, where single player campaign offers the possibility to even pause a game ?

Kind regards

J.

There can be no dispute Hawker. I was there and I saw it happen. That pilot on question (15 letters in his name) has done it many times in the past and no doubt, will continue to do so until he is banned from all servers.

As for the sarcastic comments you have received....ignore them. You were merely making a point that it is not 'sporting' for someone to cheat at what is only a game. It is almost understandable for someone to cheat when playing cards (for example) for money but a flight sim????    for fun???? That pilot really ought to go and play with kids his own age....he is obviously a very immature person.

It would be very easy to remove the chickens' escape in the software. Hint hint devs. Or remove their scores on disconnect. This is one of my wet dreams for this game.

Some players may disconnect intentionally. Then again, players may simply lose their connection, something beyond their control. Myself, I have lost my connection in multiplayer on five or six occasions. I once had it happen while I was in the middle of shooting down a bomber. Had I not lost my connection, I would have been credited with an air kill. Because of the disconnect, something I had no control over, I wasn't given credit for shooting down the bomber.

I was punished for something I had no control over. Now, I don't mind losing the air kill, but I would probably be a little bit frustrated with multiplayer if the player I would have otherwise been credited with shooting down then ended up credited with shooting me down, because I lost my connection to the game. Personally, I would rather put up with the occasional player intentionally disconnecting than be punished for things beyond my control.
