Blitzen Posted October 3, 2018 Posted October 3, 2018 (edited) I've finished reading several pieces of online general information on the upcoming Spring of 2019 release of Oculus Quest, but have no idea really on how much better it will be for our Sim.Of course wireless will be a nice addition , but does anyone have any idea whether it will improve resolution or have any negative effects on FPS? I'm not a "techie" & cannot really read between the lines...can someone respond who is better at reading the tea leaves. Edited October 3, 2018 by Blitzen
HunDread Posted October 3, 2018 Posted October 3, 2018 I just checked on the Oculus site and it says No PC. No wires. No limits. Without a PC it seems totally useless to us. Probably it's for angry birds and those kind of stuff.
chiliwili69 Posted October 3, 2018 Posted October 3, 2018 people will use it for that UltraWings or VTOL stuff. Pretty sad.
Blitzen Posted October 3, 2018 Author Posted October 3, 2018 Sad...maybe...but I'll get to keep my $400.00 for a while longer & that isn't bad....?
JonRedcorn Posted October 4, 2018 Posted October 4, 2018 You cannot use it on a PC it's a stand alone device like a gaming console.
chiliwili69 Posted October 5, 2018 Posted October 5, 2018 People were asking if Quest could be used for PC games using the USB type-C connector within the headset... But the answer from Oculus was NO! https://www.roadtovr.com/oculus-cto-quest-no-dedicated-hardware-play-pc-games-usb-c/ It could be a good all-in-one headset with VivePro like resolution and inside-out tracking, for mobile games and PC games. For 400$, But NOT!. It was a making-money decision (like oll company decisions). The want to milk the cow in multiple ways!

I doubt they'll ever go back and make another high end pc headset at this point. They want apple like control.
OrLoK Posted October 6, 2018 Posted October 6, 2018 if they make a new decent headset, I'll get it. I can't get angry at any dev or publisher. either it's a product I want or not. it's not life or death just hard/soft ware 1

Why do I know names like Palmer Luckey and Abrash? I dont know any names from nvidia, intel, asus etc. And i dont want to. I hated people talking about Palmer like a saviour from the neighborhood back in the beginning. But Oculus wanted it.
