Poochnboo Posted October 2, 2018 Posted October 2, 2018 (edited) I was looking though the internet at some old comics. I came across a favorite of mine when I was a kid. Enemy Ace. Drawn by one of my favorite comic book artists, Joe Kubert, it centered around a fictitous WW1 ace named Hans Von Hammer. "The Hammer of Hell." Great stories and art. Had every edition. If you've never heard of it, go look it up. Remember that this was fairly ground breaking stuff, at the time, because no one had done a graphic novel about "the other side" before. He was based on Richtofen, so of course he flew a red Triplane. Many years later he was brought back. The book was called, "War in Heaven." Von Hammer is now in his forties but rejoins the German Air Force to lead a fighter squadron on the eastern front. He hates Hitler and the Nazis, but he is talked into coming back by an old friend. The first thing he does, is paint his '109 bright red. Later, he flies a red ME-262. This could be fun. Combine the WW1 and WW2 planes into a single campaign. It wil work better, of course, when more First War airplanes are released, but this could be something that people may enjoy. Just fun. You don't have to worry too much about historical accuracy....it's a comic book! Well okay, yeah, they call them graphic novels, now. Now that I think of it, it would make a great movie! With Hollywood into making all the comic book heros into films, there has to be a way to fit Von Hammer into the DC universe. They had Wonder Woman in WW1. Why not? Anyway, this could be a good idea if done right. I posted this already, somewhere else, but realized that it might be good here, too. Edited October 2, 2018 by Poochnboo
Poochnboo Posted October 2, 2018 Author Posted October 2, 2018 Is that, "OMG, that's sounds great!!" or, "OMG, that's so effin' stupid I can't believe it!" 2 hours ago, Trooper117 said: OMG! 2
Gambit21 Posted October 3, 2018 Posted October 3, 2018 It would take a metric ass-ton of work to pull something like this off, (I mean graphic panels at the beginning, end of each mission, voice-overs etc) and the AI won't be helping things along. I say you learn the editor and go for it. For something like this I'd want a retro-futuristic 30's/40's New York map and then we could do Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow. 1

But yeah, I guess it's not doable, really. Would almost have to be a payed addon, I think! Just thinking out loud. Never mind. Return to what you were doing. 1

I don’t even know what he was, ruined the film debut of Harley Quinn, my favourite character, wasted the TDKR and Death of Superman storylines, and didn’t even have Darkseid in a movie adaptation of Darkseid’s New 52 debut. This von Hammer guy deserves better. WW was pretty good, though. EDIT: Apparently DC did another WWII series called War Story. One issue was about a guilt-stricken German war criminal attempting to save his innocent tank crew, and others were about the D-Day Dodgers, Easy Company, and the war at sea. I used to read 'em all. Sgt. Rock and Easy Company was a favorite. There was The Haunted Tank, about an M3 light tank haunted by the ghost of Jeb Stuart. Johnny Redd, about an American Indian pilot who flew a P-51. There was Lt. Steve Savage, The Baloon Buster, another WW1 character. Star Spangled War Stories used to do crazy stuff about soldiers, sailors and flyers fighting dinosaurs! There was even one about a female French resistance fighter.

They screwed the pooch hugely on that one. It's almost as if they try as hard as they can to mess things up. They couldn't manage to equal Arkham City...which is the best Batman movie done to date ironically. 1
Feathered_IV Posted October 4, 2018 Posted October 4, 2018 I was a bit more for Battler Britton and Johnny Red myself. 1
PatrickAWlson Posted December 4, 2018 Posted December 4, 2018 I would love to see a modern remake of crimson skies. 3
