Wulfen Posted September 30, 2018 Posted September 30, 2018 (edited) Flying in VR, I just spent 20 mins scrambling around a bomber formation in a craze of wanton destruction while weaving in and out of hails of lead. Unfortunately despite my excellent flight skills, my foe managed to land some lucky shots to some seemingly vital parts of my engine. Consequently I began to accumulate some unwanted oil on my canopy, some of which I`d imagine was also from the rapidly disintegrating bomber engines immediately to my front. As I battled and consumed my prey, I not only had to dodge their desperate attempts to frustrate my efforts, but I had to do it through an increasingly inky black canopy. Not dissuaded I continued my wanton frenzy with glee and proceeded to open my canopy to improve my vision. All was going well until my goggles became increasing covered by a watery brown oily slick, a mixture of engine oil and water vapour from the clouds through which I was battling. Throughout all of this I found myself smiling from ear to ear in thorough enjoyment, persisting in my malicious endeavour. At the same time I also found myself grasping for a non existent rag or cloth with which to wipe my goggles so I could sight my cross-hairs and continue the hunt as my aircraft's engine was somehow miraculously still providing the power of flight and responding to my expertly executed commands. What defeated me in the end was not the feeble attempts of my foe, but the want of an oil rag. Consequently I would ask the dev team to remedy this situation posthaste by the provision of an oil rag or cloth of sufficient nature to be supplied as standard equipment, so that pilots may use same as they see fit when the need arises in whatever the situation. Fortunately due to my fantastic flying skills I managed to glide my aircraft to the nearest airfield where I made an expert landing, all without my sense of sight but utilizing my sense of hearing and smell to guide me, and using the sensation of wind on my face to judge airspeed. I lived to fight another day.? Edited September 30, 2018 by Wulfen 5 3
SAG Posted October 1, 2018 Posted October 1, 2018 hmm i havent flown in a while but i thought there wasnt an oil/water effect for the goggles on VR. do we have that efffect in VR now?
Herne Posted October 1, 2018 Posted October 1, 2018 From your story you do not need a rag, you just need to :- 2
Jade_Monkey Posted October 1, 2018 Posted October 1, 2018 Thats why you have to carry a roll of toilet paper in the cockpit. Also to kill some time between sorties ? 2

I was in for a sortie on qmb to test the new patch, actually that oil on goggles is the same as we had in ROF. I found it a bit odd and overdone . Surely the windshield would protect you from that. It should be drops in same color as canopy if anything. But at the same time it is cool

E_Davjack Posted October 1, 2018 Posted October 1, 2018 Thread title makes no sense? I really really really don't know why the devs haven't added some sort of "wipe goggles" feature after years and years. It can't be hard to do. Hell, make it take 5 seconds, and if you do it with a heavy covering of oil, it just smears it around and you have to do a 5 second wipe 3 times or something. IIRC isn't oil the main reason WWI aviators wore scarves? Lots of extra cloth for soaking up that oil.
