BillyBramble_IRL Posted September 30, 2018 Posted September 30, 2018 I was considering Downloading Tank crew but a slight problem arose when i realised i mighnt have enough space to get it, i have tried to search on the internet for the actual size of the game But was unable to find a general idea of the download size Please tell me how big the game is Many thanks
Oubaas Posted October 1, 2018 Posted October 1, 2018 It comes with the IL-2 series. If you're flying the airplanes, you already have it. Hence, the download size is at or near nothing. You just have to buy a key and unlock it. 1
BillyBramble_IRL Posted October 1, 2018 Author Posted October 1, 2018 So it would most likely fit in 30 Gb of space? Thanks for the help Btw 9 minutes ago, Oubaas said: It comes with the IL-2 series. Oubaas Posted October 1, 2018 Posted October 1, 2018 It's there already, just waiting for you to unlock it. The key probably doesn't even take up more than a few bytes of space. If you get it, I think you'll like it. I bought it a couple of days ago and I'm having a ball. If it's this much fun this early on, I'm excited about what it will be when the full release comes. Enjoy! 1
BillyBramble_IRL Posted October 1, 2018 Author Posted October 1, 2018 (edited) So i need another Il2 Game for the download to be shorter, Or is it just generally lest time to download as i currently Own no Il2 games 10 minutes ago, Oubaas said: It's there already, just waiting for you to unlock it. Oubaas Posted October 1, 2018 Posted October 1, 2018 Ah, OK. You're starting from scratch. Right now, Tank Crew is pre-release. The Kursk map hasn't been released yet. So in order to play it right away, you'd have to order IL-2 Battle of Stalingrad, IL-2 Battle of Moscow, or IL-2 Battle of Kuban, if I understand things correctly. That would give you some flyable airplanes, but also give you some maps to play Tank Crew until they release the Kursk map. IL-2 Battle of Stalingrad will give you some planes, and the T-34-76 and PzKpfw III Ausf.M to play with in Quick Missions (I think), and if you also purchase Tank Crew, it will add the Soviet KV-1s and the PzKpfw VI Ausf.H1 Tiger, for now. You'll eventually also get the M4A2 Sherman, SU-122, SU-152, PzKpfw IV Ausf.G, PzKpfw V Ausf.D Panther and Sd. Kfz. 184 Ferdinand, and of course, the Kursk map, all 10,000 square kilometers of it, which is a lot when you're roaming around in a tank. Tank Crew Store Page There's the Tank Crew store page for accurate info, and in the red box to the right you can find the links to the store pages of the other titles that make up the IL-2 Great Battles series. Now as for your question regarding download size, it's been so long since I first installed the game that I don't remember. My game folder right now is 17.5 GB, and that includes Stalingrad, Moscow, Kuban, all Collector Planes, and Tank Crew, so I reckon it would fit on your 30 GB space. Frankly, I can think of a lot of titles that I'd uninstall to make more room for the IL-2 series. And since I'll be buying Battle of Bodenplatte and Flying Circus, and anything else that the devs conjure up in the days and years to come, I may eventually do that. Now if you have anymore questions, ask away. And if you decide to go for it and get to wondering what to do with those airplanes, or about joysticks and all that, ask and we'll get you sorted out. All this having been said, there are a lot of people around here that are a lot more knowledgeable about all this than me, so if anyone happens to read this and happens to be one of those people, please correct me if I've screwed anything up here. Hope this helps, Billy. Any further questions, just ask. One of us will probably know the answer, or at least where to find the answer. Cheers! Oubaas 1
Huug Posted October 2, 2018 Posted October 2, 2018 (edited) According to the store page of Tank Crew you don't have to buy any of the other modules: Quote IL-2 Sturmovik: Tank Crew is part of the IL-2 Great Battles series and can be played as a separate stand-alone product or be integrated with other Great Battles titles such as Battle of Stalingrad, Battle of Moscow, Battle of Kuban and Battle of Bodenplatte. Combine all titles to create one big WWII air and ground combat simulation. However, since it is part of the whole Great Battles concept, when you only buy one module all content of all other modules will be downloaded as well. It is just one big package and certain content will just be unlocked by means of a license key when you buy it. So in your case it will only unlock the Tank Crew part. Hope this makes some sense. Anyway, the download will be large, I suspect. I don't know the exact number, though. According to Steam Battle of Stalingrad requires 16GB of available disk space, but I'm not sure if that number is updated with the release of the Moscow and Kuban modules. Huug Posted October 2, 2018 Posted October 2, 2018 I just checked. My installation of IL-2 is indeed 15.5GB. So if you have 30GB available, it should be more then sufficient. 1

zan64 Posted January 10, 2022 Posted January 10, 2022 if you have USB 3 you can easily play with il2 on an external drive, that is what i do. you can also copy and past the entire game and it wil play, recently my usb was too small for the download, i simply copy pasted the entire game to my laptop, finished the patch, the cut and past back to external and plays fine
