TP_Sparky Posted September 30, 2018 Posted September 30, 2018 (edited) I use VR. Rift then Vive Pro for better visual sharpness. I have trouble turning all the way back around to check my six o'clock due to neck and back injuries (a military souvenir). I know Track IR users can exaggerate rotation so it is amplified to double or triple the actual angle of off-screen rotation. Is there any way to do that with Vive Pro? I downloaded their website "manual" but it's really a setup guide, mostly about setting game area up for folks who move about the room while gaming. Almost seventy pages but not relevant to my question. I'm going to also try a swiveling chair but all I'll have to get one without wheels. Operating my rudder pedals with a swivel chair? ? dburne Posted September 30, 2018 Posted September 30, 2018 None that I am aware of, VR is 1:1 tracking. I will say though, when Pimax 4k first came out without positional tracking, I think some users were able to somehow get Track IR to work in conjuction with the Pimax 4k device. Not sure how complicated that was and if it really did any good. I find a swivel chair certainly helps, but for me being older and not as agile as I used to be, still pretty hard to check on my true six.
[CPT]Crunch Posted September 30, 2018 Posted September 30, 2018 There's an app that works in DCS but not in Il-2, tried it, made me extremely nauseous very quickly, not a good idea. Never suffered any sort of nausea in VR prior or since. But the swivel chair idea is, I'm using a auto bucket seat on a fishing boat swivel, works excellent, even with rudder pedals stationary. You only need to turn about 15 to 20 degrees to see effectively to fight. I can turn up to 45 and still keep one foot planted right by it's pedal, usually don't keep them on the pedals while swiveling far to avoid inputs when pushing or pulling. You will have to mount your stick and throttle set up firmly on the chair, which is kind of handy any way. 10 inch swivel
chiliwili69 Posted September 30, 2018 Posted September 30, 2018 You can use mirrors, like the real planes. If the swivel chairs is not enough you can use a cheat trick: 1. Look to right (or left) as much as you can 2. Press "Center View" 3. Look to the left (or right) so you will check your six easily 4. Then look straight ahead and press again "Center View" I don´t use it since I can still turn my head relatively well, but in your case it can help.

Good ideas from all of you. Thanks. I use mirrors if they're there. In the past I tried several times to map Center View to my joystick, then my throttle quadrant but it never worked. I never could figure out why. It makes no sense. Number pad 5 works but I must lift my VR headset to see the keyboard. I'll try again. Dragged a swivel chair in tonight. I had a fancy extension on my joystick, removed it and raised my joystick and throttle quadrant so I can rotate without knocking my knees on their sturdy tableside mounting brackets. Took up a Yak-1b to see the view. I can see better and I think my Crosswinds rudder pedals are strong enough to stand any additional strain I might unintentionally put on them as I twist my body. I'll have to start yoga again. The one time I did that regularly in my life it did amazing things for flexibility. At first, on some moves I could barely touch fingers but soon I was grasping my wrists. I'm not sure the spiritual heart of yoga is to enable you to shoot down your enemy but ? oh, well. fiddlinjim Posted October 3, 2018 Posted October 3, 2018 I often use the FLYBY view momentarily to see if anything is closing on my six.

I have Fly By and Fixed ( with hat to pan around), assigned to buttons on my stick and will use them occasionally. Yes I have no shame.
