Natives-Soul_Finger Posted September 28, 2018 Posted September 28, 2018 After 450 hours of not using it, I decided to turn the aiming assist on to see if it could show me what a successful deflection shot with the 37mm M4 would look like. However, I now realize that I am unclear about how it works in which guns is it showing a deflection lead for. Is it likely showing one for my .50 M2s or the 37mm M4 or a useless in between? Thanks in advance.
kramer Posted September 28, 2018 Posted September 28, 2018 Wow, i have to admit i have no idea. It's obvious some planes have guns with very different ballistic. I used this feature to learn how to aim rockets and bombs. 1
Mauf Posted September 28, 2018 Posted September 28, 2018 (edited) I would guess it simply works with your set convergence distance. If you deal with guns with vastly different ballistic behaviour (aka, the P-39), it's best you limit yourself to using the big whopper only at very close ranges (aka, enemy plane fills the crosshair) and learn to do the long ranged and deflection shooting with the "normal" calibers only. You won't be able to get the guns all converged most of the time anyways, distances vary too much for that to happen. Edited September 28, 2018 by Mauf
Natives-Soul_Finger Posted September 28, 2018 Author Posted September 28, 2018 (edited) Mauf, I do have them on two triggers and don't even try deflection shots with the cannon. To me it is essentially just a two heavy machine-gun plane for most shots but also has a hell of hammer when you succeed in surprising someone. Yesterday I disassembled a Ju-88 in less than two seconds in a surprise attack from slightly below. The rear gunner must have been texting or something. Edited September 29, 2018 by VicNighthorse
peregrine7 Posted September 29, 2018 Posted September 29, 2018 The deflection seems to (in my testing) match whichever gun is in group 1. Primarily it works for MGs. However an interesting test case would be the La5. I may check this out. 1
