Gents,

Since the above up-date, when there is an oil leak on WW2 aircraft with canopy closed, the effect is that oil splatters appear inside the cockpit on your goggles.  Although I'm aware that it was mentioned as a new update for FC aircraft, this oil effect appears to be happening on WW2 aircraft as well.

A suggestion is that the oil splatter should be black or at least dark brown.

I just tested this in a quick mission, (bf-109 vs Pe-2 rear gun) and here is what I saw:

With canopy closed, Oil splatter appears on the windscreen as it always did.  Doesn't seem to be a problem there that I observed, at least not on the plane I tested.  However, when I popped the canopy open, ugly oil splotches( that poorly matched the appearance of the oil on the windscreen itself) appeared on the goggles immediately even though my head was still well within the cockpit, and behind the windscreen.  That shouldn't be happening.

When flying through the clouds with your canopy open, Water droplets only appear on your goggles when you stuck your head outside the canopy frame.  That's still how it works, and exactly how one would expect it should work.

I think the oil splatter should behave the same as the water drops...you should only get oil in the face if you lean your head out of the cockpit, or at least it should be related to head position relative to the windscreen, just like it is for the water droplets.

So, definitely looks like a bug here.  I hope it's a bug, and not a design decision.

What makes you think that if you open your canopy in a rain cloud you wont get wet ? or oil on you when you have an oil leak?

Physics.  I'm satisfied with the current water effects.  And when you have goo spewing out of the cowling, the windscreen is going to offer some measure of protection.  That's why god invented the windshield, Aristotle.

Ever drive a convertible in the rain with top down, you will only do it one time.

You aren't using the correct analogy for the water droplets.   And what's more, if you noticed, this thread is about the behavior of Oil spewing from the cowling of the aircraft, not water falling vertically into the cockpit (as in your example of the convertible) and the pilot is sitting behind a windscreen.  So if you are arguing that the windscreen makes no difference at all in this case, then you are just simply wrong.

That it does, slight splatters on the front with most of the oil found on his arms and shoulders, example below.
