'BERLOGA-backup' server is now up and running.. All credit to SDV_Fin*19_ for creating the mission.

Thanks @Nake, can you remove the auto-balance thing tho?

 

It works in a weird way and it's really annoying when trying to do duels.

No worries.. I'll Have a look and let you know. 

 

Update.. I have removed "Coalition Balancer" which was checked on.. Not sure if it updates automatically on next mission start, but will restart manually if not.

The auto-balance seemed still active, just now I joined server and I cannot chose any side of factions, @Nake can you please check the settings? Thanks.

Ok thanks..the box was unchecked yesterday, but I'll try a forced restart of the sever shortly.

 

Update: @SiJiServer restarted, so let me know how you get on.

thank you for getting the backup berloga running, much appreciated.

 

One question: why do we need a 5 sec wait time to exit the fight/switch teams?  This server is sort of like an air-quake setup, having these timers serves no purpose...

Hi @omicron_21 and no worries.. It's my favourite server so had to do something lol. 

 

As for the timers, I copied the original config settings for the mission where those are set as wanted to keep to the original as not sure what's happened to Fin_19 and if he's coming back. 

 

Anyway.. The only purpose I can think of for the delay in exiting is to give the opponent who killed you more chance to change location before you respawn? Unless anyone else can add.

on this server such timers are close to an exercise in pride and pettiness IMHO as there are constant situations with 3+ vs 1, i.e. everyone's piling up on each other and rushing in to get in to a fight. With no ranking on the server I feel if you let it be what it was and how it worked for the past 5+ years, i.e. remove timers, autobalance, etc..  the players will balance it all out and keep it dynamic... just my 2 cents.

 

it's enough to put 1 round in to opponent for you to get a point/victory if the guy decides to exit mid fight. But getting pummeled by 20+ cannon explosions while going down and unable to eject waiting for the timer to expire is pretty frustrating so folks leave the server because of it..

Yes it can be frustrating when you just can't eject, but I think the timer has always been there on this server (and any other I've tried) hasn't it?

 

If removed it may well cause complaints elsewhere.

thank you for removing the timers, I appreciate it. They were never used in Berloga.  You've also enabled the VR Limit and disabled the external views (there were no such limitations before), not sure if u think there was much 'cheating' going on on this server, imho it's a bit too much for this server but it's up to you, at least the timers are gone, again thank you!

Nice of you to thank me, but my backup server is no longer running the game as it looks like the original reappeared yesterday, but heard nothing official from Fin*19 to say it's his. 

 

Personally I prefer external views active as makes dogfights more likely instead of single shots in the six lol. Not sure if/ where limit VR view is set in a mission yet, but I know its in our own camera settings.

I'm grateful for your backup Berloga, @Nake, and I'm sure lots of other players are as well, it's a unique server with a unique game play and keeping it alive through out these years is a noble gesture imho. :)  Thank you for the great work!

Why is the Padlock function disabled? Padlock makes this an enjoyable and practical arena for those of us who either do not have  nor like VR kits or head-tracker. Allows you to concentrate on tactics and not hardware peculiarities.

Great to see this back. Is it possible to remove the VR limit please as it's sometimes great fun to stand up and walk along the wing.

Why lock is gone? the controls without it is difficult only to vr advantage

Hi, folks.

SDV_Fin*19_ gave me the server and now I'm an admin. You can ask me, if you have a problem with connection, settings and in other cases. 

Fin's post on russian forum:

About padlock. The current solution is a compromise between arcade and simulation. I can't choose one setting for the dogfight zone and another for duels. External views are now available and I think it can make the review easier for those who don't have a TrackIR or VR. I use opentrack, but I know a lot of players, who use a mouse for review and fly better then me.

Of course it's only a practice server but having more variety could be nice.

Like just a copy/paste of all the spawns/locations on the different maps and changing map at each mission rotation maybe?

Earlier there was a Kuban map. Kuban is a very unoptimized map as Rhineland. I won't say a word about Prokhorovka:) I have Ryzen 5 3600, 16gb ram, 2060 super and Il-2 is not so heavy for my system anymore, but when i have i5 4400, 8gb ram and 1060 3gb, FPS was low in dogfight on the deck. Performance is also an important factor. Yes, flying in the mountains is fun, but not all the time. Now in the dogfighting zone there is a landmark - a lake, and there are few trees in the duel zone. I think it's important to choose the right place for the respawn. But I promise to think about it and add a new map in test mode, for example.

Hello @FF*Stid*15

Is it possible to add the Bf109G6 Late to the eastern side of the map please? It is practically the same as the collector G6 just with better canopy and a few other differences. (Lock MW50 modification).

The server switched to a new version of the commander, and i forgot to turn off the ban for timkill. Sorry, all those banned for this reason will be unbanned.

10.11.22 there will be scheduled work on electrical equipment in the data center. The server will be unavailable from 00:00 to 05:00 msk.

As said before, padlock view would bring many people back to the site. If you don't have VR or head track you're out of luck. Just consider padlock view as wingman giving you warning.

- Added Sopwith Snipe to the Flying Circus area and dueling fields.

 

- Added winter Stalingrad map and spring Kuban map to the rotation. Weather preserved as on normal Stalingrad map. On the Kuban map for the test added Novorossiysk and nearby cities, so it was not so empty.

Some dueling fields on the Kuban turned out to be controversial, not everywhere i can put the center (letter), but the whole Kuban has square forests.

 

Write, if you have low fps near Novorossiysk.

Thanks for trying something new, although not keen on the inclusion of the Kuban map personally.. Not as good performance with buildings added and looks cartoony/ arcade game like to me.

Stalingrad map with just subtle changes in the weather and seasons would work better for me.. 

I should mention the three craters in the West dogfight are floating so need their elevation reducing.. Could be Z coordinate.. Can't remember without looking at the mission editor

Changed time on the winter map from 12:00 p.m. to 9:30 a.m. In winter, the sun is low, so it will still glare.

Thanks for the feedback. Craters now on the ground. Removed a few cities, saved Novorossiysk, Fedotovka, Mishako, Kabardinka.
