You need to know percent only, technochat will even tell you about mode/regime. I often met the guys which didn't have any idea what RPM their WWII fighter has; 100 RPM? 1000? 5000? maybe 20000? Because technochat they don't need to know that not even where manifold, RPM, temperature or any other gauge/indicator is Edited September 29, 2018 by bies 2

I would prefer those messages categorized as “Tips” and switched off in Expert. Without that message you would indeed have to know the engine operating limits ATA and RPMs etc. That assumes that Complex Engine Management is also enabled which of course in Expert it is.

We would all prefer the same. Other thing is all this things are not categorised as "tips". Tips (second level of technochat) add you only useless massages like "lower the gear before landing". All the rest, overheating, percentage instead of manifold, rpm, gear position, trim ... you name it... are included in basic technochat unfortunately, named technical massages... This whole permanent HUD is the biggest advantage of Cliffs of Dover, DCS and Rise of Flight over IL-2. Edited September 28, 2018 by kramer
