NealCFI Posted September 23, 2018 Posted September 23, 2018 My son and I attended the Dawn Patrol Rendezvous at the National Museum of the United States Air Force. A couple photos of the Fokker Dr 1 with original powerplant. A great museum and event! 4
E_Davjack Posted September 23, 2018 Posted September 23, 2018 Did you meet the owner and tell him that a forum full of aviation nerds desperately wants his opinion the strength of the torque effects? ?

The owner is a friend, and I have asked him, probably to excess. He told me the difference between flying my Lyco and the rotary would be much less than the exaggerated stories of WWI. That isn't really a quantifiable amount, but in relative terms, I suppose that is something to go on... A note about his plane...it is the most accurate example of a Dr.I in the United States. It is even covered in actual linen, hand stitched to the fuselage, just as it was in WWI. The guy has an amazing level of attention to detail. I am jealous of your trip!!
