Barnacles Posted September 23, 2018 Posted September 23, 2018 Are the airfields on the current maps able to support jet ops, or will we have to wait for the new bodenplatte map for airstrips long enough for the me262?
-TBC-AeroAce Posted September 23, 2018 Posted September 23, 2018 (edited) Good question. I could not find any takeoff/landing distances but there are some long runways dotted about. I guess it will depend on if a server host will uses them or If the QMB has one of the long runways available(as you can only select a limmited number). On that last note, I wish we could select any airfield to fly from in the QMB similar to FSX or...... Edited September 23, 2018 by AeroAce
StickMan Posted September 23, 2018 Posted September 23, 2018 Runways!? Who uses runways? Just head straight through the fields when taking off, just like the guys on WoL. You'll have all the room you'll need. 4
6./ZG26_5tuka Posted September 23, 2018 Posted September 23, 2018 Source: Summary Report Np. F-SU-1111-ND 10 January 1946 Me 262 A-1 Pilot's Handbook. Smaller runways and aerodromes (~900m runway length) are troublesome while larger airfields (eg Pitomnik, Kalach) are fine (~1.5 km runway length). 1
Psyrion Posted September 23, 2018 Posted September 23, 2018 (edited) Grass Airfields on Kuban are up to 2000m at the longest parts. While the 262 could only take off from grass airfields when they were dry afaik that shouldn´t affect us in game to much. Edited September 23, 2018 by Psyrion
Legioneod Posted September 23, 2018 Posted September 23, 2018 I'm guessing the map will be out before the 262 since it will be the last aircraft released for Bodenplatte.

Has it been confirmed that it will be last? I know it is one of the more complex planes because of higher mach number .... but the model is quite far along.

I believe so, I've read that Jason said it would be the last aircraft released or very close to last because of the new tech required for jet aircraft.
