Eclipse4349 Posted September 17, 2018 Posted September 17, 2018 I was wondering if anyone knows whether or not there are plans to add a mission generator to the new MP coop system. Specifically, I am asking about a setup very similar to the old campaign system and the Instant Action system, where you set the map, mission type (dogfight (head-on, side approach, rear approach), parameters such as time and weather, the type of flights to be included on each side (such as dogfight between 1 allied flight of 3 Yaks and 1 flight of 3 Bf-109 F-2, both air start at 1000m, or runway start for 1 allied flight of 2x Pe-2 on a bombing mission with 1 flight of 3 La-5 for escort and all axis CAP are AI, or the same bombing run setup but both sides have player slots, etc), modifications for each flight (skins, weapons, fuel loads, etc), and so forth. I haven't looked at PWCG yet myself, but I understand that it can generate coop missions. Does it work similar to what I outlined (rambled) above? I think it would help the coop scene to be able to generate a mission from the coop screen in-game, in real time in the lobby. Maybe that's too demanding or unrealistic, I don't know, I'm not a developer. Thoughts on that? And speaking of which, is the MP lobby still going to be a thing at some point?

I don't know of any plans by 1C to create a cooperative quick mission builder/instant action missions There are 3rd party cooperative mission builders out there (and I'm sure others can point you in their direction) PWCG does build cooperative missions, but it's not designed for making a single mission and playing it with your friends. Instead it's a whole campaign of custom dynamically generated missions that are linked together via you and your friends stats and the influence you guys have on the war. To generate a mission on the fly isn't to hard; hence why there are 3rd party mission generators. I doubt 1C is going to make their own generator (see answer 1), 1C is probably working on other things for multiplayer - like Marshal mode I don't know, but I doubt there's going to be a lobby

PatrickAWlson Posted September 23, 2018 Posted September 23, 2018 At the moment PWCG supports you and your friends flying in the same squadron in a campaign. PWCG is quite similar to the 1C campaign in many ways. In coop mode what you get is a campaign, but your squadron mates are a mix of AI and human players instead of just your persona. if a human player gets killed another persona can be created, but you have to start all over with zero kills. Future plans are to expand PWCG campaigns such that human personas can exist in multiple squadrons and on both sides. This would be very useful for online squadron wars or any campaign you want to play through with friends. I am working on it but don't hold your breath. Odds are good that is not going to be available until 2019.
