SCG_motoadve Posted September 17, 2018 Posted September 17, 2018 Have you guys tried pushing your headset to your ears with your hands, and feel how much better the sound quality is? Thinking of a way to make a tighter fit, any ideas?
Alonzo Posted September 17, 2018 Posted September 17, 2018 I use the Oculus Rift Ear Buds, they replace the on-ear pads that come with the Rift. I find them really good and when the dog licks my throttle hand is scares the bejesus out of me! Full immersion! https://www.roadtovr.com/oculus-earphones-review-rift-earbuds-comparison/

I got the Earbuds not too long after getting my Rift.
sinbad Posted September 17, 2018 Posted September 17, 2018 Do you use HOTAS controls w Oculus Rift ? I have an Oculus Rift in the mail for delivery tomorrow, and I see a thread reporting that the Oculus controllers are no op in the game. Obviously you are using the Oculus Rift so how did you set it up?

Obviously you are using the Oculus Rift so how did you set it up? I have a joystick and throttle, I assign all my needed actions to the buttons on them in the game. So I fly with the Rift with my hands on throttle and stick (HOTAS) , without need to look at keyboard much. There is a small nose gap in the Rift one can peer down at the keyboard, but using fingers to reach keys is kind of awkward.
JonRedcorn Posted September 17, 2018 Posted September 17, 2018 It's definitely preferable to have everything you need bound to your hotas. I wouldn't want to be reaching for the keyboard during a dogfight. However I still manage to chat in multiplayer but that's just because I know how to type on a keyboard.

Obviously you are using the Oculus Rift so how did you set it up? Yeah, I saw that thread too. Personally I see IL2 as a fairly hardcore simulator, and most people are going to want to get a HOTAS eventually. Not much sympathy for me on someone suggesting the devs muck around supporting touch controllers. The Thrustmaster HOTAS thing is excellent and fairly cheap, but I can see how any cost would be a barrier. But yeah, VR = HOTAS required (and massively immersive and fun!!!).
dburne Posted September 18, 2018 Posted September 18, 2018 I use a VKB stick ( or Virpil also at times), a TM Warthog Throttle, and a CH Throttle Quadrant ( for the extra axis and buttons). I can use all three whilst in VR no problem once I get all my commands pretty much memorized, no need to look at anything. Works great for me especially for VR.
