In-game markings & blank skins?

Right now we have a bunch of stock and custom skins, which is great. But why isn't there (4th title in the works by now) an option to put custom in-game (historical ofc) markings on our planes - combined with blank skins? There was such an option in the old IL-2 1946 and functioned great.

 

It looks super weird when you have several planes flying formation all with the same skins - and with same tail numbers online. Especially on servers without icons...

 

Has this been mentioned before or is such a feature planed for the future? Apologies if I missed it.

I am also very surprised that this has not been implemented yet. It does not sound as a too difficult programming task and it would be extremely valuable especially in multiplayer where you can recognize members of your flight only by their tail number. Right now the only option is that everybody chooses a different skin which is not optimal in any way.
