TWC_Ace Posted September 12, 2018 Posted September 12, 2018 (edited) Taken from this interview. Ofcourse he was attacking a lot of sturdy Il2s.... Exactly what I do in the game haha (ok Im firing from 150-200m sometimes). But I noticed ppl are firing much ealier (in the game) and not always with all guns. In the interview he mentiones how the bullets dispersion was huge at 300-400m. Do we have that in the game? Im not sure... Also ineresting is remark about mustangs vs late 109s....He said (he earlier discussed about that with us pilots) that mustangs was faster (and very probably more manuverable) above 5tkm...and below it was the 109 that had overall advantage... THERION Posted September 12, 2018 Posted September 12, 2018 He has been quoted by other Luftwaffe pilots who flew with him, that he waited for a shot until the enemy plane nearly filled his front screen - so quite close and well under 100m.
MiloMorai Posted September 12, 2018 Posted September 12, 2018 Typical convergence range was 100m or 300yd for WW2 fighters.

Depends on aircraft type. Standard convergence for most US types was around 1,100 ft. (340m) Also, in many cases each pair of guns was set to different ranges. Edited September 13, 2018 by Legioneod

Again, not so. The manuals I have for the P-47, for instance, say that the standard convergence was either 250 or 350 yards.

6./ZG26_Custard Posted September 13, 2018 Posted September 13, 2018 I'm sure many of you have seen this before http://www.luftwaffe.cz/hartmann.html The chart of his aerial victories is interesting. The poor old LaGG fell to his guns more than any other aircraft type at 189 shot down. Surprisingly 81 P-39s were claimed and only 12 IL-2s. The altitudes are interesting too, nothing above 6,500m the average around 2,500m and the lowest at 20m!

The one thing I wish I could do in-game is set each pair of guns to a different convergence. Edited September 13, 2018 by Legioneod
Feathered_IV Posted September 14, 2018 Posted September 14, 2018 Hartmann only had three guns. I'd have been surprised if he didn't fire all of them.
