Aerial Chess Match (with commentary)

That's exactly how I describe the best dogfights. Had a fantastic one like this in La5 vs Bf109 the other day from the disadvantage. Fantastic pilot who played it perfectly.

If flown perfectly the Series 8 can dodge all day and survive. But if also flown well the 109 can keep it's advantage. Both parties can dodge / attack all day and it'll end in a draw unless someone makes a mistake.

EDIT: Oh.. so this is that fight!

I was actually the flight lead here, trying to teach a fairly experienced wingman exactly the things you're talking about. Will have to shoot him a link. I was also the "high guy" at the end, trying to force you into exactly the maneuver you did (feint into pull hard into prop hang) because if you hadn't done that you'd be in perfect position for me to reverse on top of you. And if you did go for the shot (as you ended up doing) you bleed a lot of E in the prop hang. However the G6 boasts nearly double the climb rate at this altitude (like most 109 variants) and seems to retain E and prop hang better than the early variants so you kept a lot more altitude than I'd expected. At that point I finally ID'd you as a G6 and my wingman had spotted a 109 and a 190 unaware beneath us so my last turn was to really tempt you for a shot and if you pulled hard enough for it reverse. Else disengage and go for the low group.

I have this recorded with comms from my end if you want them!

(Come fly with us sometime, we fly both sides)
