HBPencil Posted September 6, 2018 Posted September 6, 2018 (edited) Just seen over on the WONZ forum that Alan Peart DFC, New Zealand's last ace (7 1/3 victories), has passed away. Those of you familiar with the Burma/India campaign will no doubt know of his (mostly) solo fight against 20+ Oscars over the Broadway airstrip in a Spit VIII, while less well known his solo fight in a Spit V against approx. 12 109s (some say 190s) over Nth Africa. If you're after a good read, I suggest his autobio 'From North Africa to the Arakan'.http://rnzaf.proboards.com/thread/27072/sad-news-rip-alan-peart?page=1&scrollTo=268261 A vid of a flight in a TR.9 he and fellow 81sqn pilot Jim Robinson took several years ago: Edited September 6, 2018 by HBPencil 1 4
