fiddlinjim Posted September 4, 2018 Posted September 4, 2018 Wow, This will require a heavy duty rig and may put a lot off considering the STAR-VR. This info is directly from their website Minimum System Requirements Operating system Windows® 10 64bits Processor Intel® core™ i7-7700 or AMD Ryzen™ 7 2700X Graphics NVIDIA® GeForce® GTX1080 Memory 16GB
dburne Posted September 4, 2018 Posted September 4, 2018 I am betting the price will be a bit of a put off as well, being as how it is geared more to the Enterprise market. They have mentioned a consumer version, but not much info on that or a date.
JonRedcorn Posted September 4, 2018 Posted September 4, 2018 With the price they are gunna be selling at I don't think those system requirements will be a problem.
Macross Posted September 4, 2018 Posted September 4, 2018 And you dont have to use full graphics, even with lower settings you get better image than oculus/vive/pimax with best settings ?
JonRedcorn Posted September 5, 2018 Posted September 5, 2018 (edited) Almost every headset out right now has a better image than the rift besdies the Vive, we need 1080p style graphics inside the headset, than it's basically over for monitors. I am impatiently waiting for the day I strap the headset on and it looks the same as my monitor. The increased FOV is going to really cut down on the density of the pixels. Being able to see so wide will be awesome though since looking behind you won't be so bothersome anymore. The amount of sky you'll be able to see just looking ahead will be incredible. I might pick a pimax 5k up for now. Depending on price. This thing might be well over 1500 usd. Edited September 5, 2018 by 15th_JonRedcorn

Agreed. The clientele who are looking at a 1500.00 Headset will be the same clientele that will have a high end rig to use it with. If it's as amazing as it sounds....being the enthusiast that I am....I definitely may purchase one. But if it's not as amazing as it sounds...there would definitely be some buyers remorse. That's a massive jump in price compared to a Rift or Vive.
SCG_motoadve Posted September 7, 2018 Posted September 7, 2018 Vive Pro with everything is $1,300, so the jump is not huge. I would buy it if its good and happily pay $1,500, but needs to be good, or else I would return it, as I did with the Vive Pro.
[CPT]Crunch Posted September 11, 2018 Posted September 11, 2018 Compared to buying a warbird, it's dirt cheap.

Your response couldnt be better timed, I was just looking to buy a Yak52 or Nanchang a few minutes ago (real pilot here) its actually not the price of the initial buy (cost is like a nice car) but the $500 per hr cost to fly it. So then I thought I keep flying in IL2 and just buy the best hardware available all the time, whatever it is , will always be a fraction of an airplane. I already have one, so really dont need two airplanes. You saved me a ton of money
