Cybermat47 Posted September 2, 2018 Posted September 2, 2018 With BoBP on the way, I figured that it was time to educate myself about the USAAF. All I really know is the major aircraft types, some of the top aces, the basics of ETO operations, and that fantastic nose art, but not much at all about the organisation and tactics. If anyone could point me towards the best books and websites for learning about the USAAF, that would be greatly appreciated (On a somewhat related note, does anyone know where I can find some good information about the US submarines in the Pacific during WWII? I can’t find much about their tactics etc. compared to the U-Boats.)
MiloMorai Posted September 2, 2018 Posted September 2, 2018 For starters, http://www.scharch.org/Dick_Baer/_RFB 3rd Division BGs/8th Air Force Bomb Groups.htm book: The Mighty Eighth by Roger Freeman 1

Excellent info on US patrols within: http://www.ibiblio.org/hyperwar/USN/ Must read in conjunction with above to get a better understanding of US submarine tactics/patrols: Pig Boats https://www.amazon.com/Pig-boats-fighting-submariners-Bantam/dp/B0007EF680 1
