pegg00 Posted September 1, 2018 Posted September 1, 2018 (edited) Hello everybody, Im pretty new here. I play Il-2 in my bed because of medical issues and all my TrackIR axis's work fine, except forward and back head movement. I need to find a way to bind these controls to my keyboard and still be able to use the rest of the axis's. As it is now the forward/back keybinds wont do anything if TrackIR is on, even if the Z axis is unchecked in the trackir software itself. Basically I need Pilot Head Forward/Back to act like zoom. please help. Edited September 1, 2018 by pegg00
SCG_Tzigy Posted September 1, 2018 Posted September 1, 2018 don't use axis for views under setting/key mapping, under PILOT head, use pilot head : zoom in/out, bind to joystick or keyboard; sett inertia speed under camera setting to your liking, 50-60% best F1 reset view (camera: player cockpit) is a useful command, 2
pegg00 Posted September 1, 2018 Author Posted September 1, 2018 I need that for pilot head forward/back, not zoom in/out. And when I do bind pilot head forward back AND have TrackIR on, it doesnt work.
=FEW=Hauggy Posted September 1, 2018 Posted September 1, 2018 Correct me if I'm wrong but i'm pretty sure you can't use both at the same time. I hope someone can help you with that.
CSW_Hot_Dog Posted September 2, 2018 Posted September 2, 2018 I know how to put head forward/backward movement on the axis of the joysticky while using trackir for other head movements, if this can help you... Unfortunatelly, i dont know, how tu put it on keybord keys...
SCG_Tzigy Posted September 2, 2018 Posted September 2, 2018 aahhh I think Hauggy is correct. I have to pause TrackIr to use those commands to adjust the views
BOO Posted September 2, 2018 Posted September 2, 2018 The problem comes with re-engaging the TIR afterwards and the way the game defaults to the "start" position. Whilst its not completely ideal. something like an EDtracker used with some transitional linked movements in opentrack may be one solution. Before I went to TIR I had mine set up so that turning my head and tilting it slightly would move the camera forward as you might if you were leaning forward and looking over our shoulder whilst I used the snap views that remain operation with trackers running to increase my fixed viewing options.
J2_Steve Posted September 5, 2018 Posted September 5, 2018 If you have TIR, why not just bind zoom -/+ to your joystick. Much better than moving the pilot head in the cockpit. Those settings are only really for you to get your position in the cockpit set to your liking. Not to dynamically change views 1

Not to dynamically change views Because Zoom doesn't move the virtual head forward in the cockpit which the OP is unable to do with his TIR due to his circumstances.
Remontti Posted September 6, 2018 Posted September 6, 2018 You might be able to achieve results if you edit files in input folder. Namely disable the forward trackir axis and bind it to keyboard. I'm not sure if it works but it causes some troubles because you need to write-protect the file. You will get error messages in start and you can't change bindings in game. Note that you can adjust head forward if you keep keypad 5 pressed even if your trackir is active. You would need to save it with F10 while you're still pressing the keypad 5. Not optimal but easier than editing files.
Remontti Posted September 7, 2018 Posted September 7, 2018 I tried editing curren.map in inputs-folder. With TrackIR active I could get head forward/backward working with joystick axis but not with keyboard keys.
