new skin wont appear in game , why ?

i made my second BF 109 F4 skin and placed it in the skin folder , in game selecting a mission i selected the new skin from my 2  skins in the folder , start game and the default skin appears  instead , my first skin does appears when selected . what is causing this ?

The skins in the pre-mission list show the default skins that come with the game. To get custom skins you have to click on the top of the list where it says "Paint scheme"" and "Official" and you get a new list saying "Custom".

 

The skins you placed in the skins folder yourself should appear on that list.

When I click on one custom skin after another in that screen, they show fine. So my first thought would be that you are actually looking at the highlighted skin, since what you are looking at is a III./JG54 skin like the other two on your list.  You can check outside the game in the skin viewer,  which is in the game bin/viewer folder.  If you cannot see it there I can only assume that there is some fault with the skin.

shortening the name  it appears ?!!!!  i always put full details for my skins in IL2 . squadron group wing number area country . How will anybody know what they are flying ? thank you very much for hint .

You can name a skin like that III./JG54 Yellow 5 (pilot or place), or  9./JG54 5 (pilot or place).

ok clear , where can i download the Russian fonts , letters and numbers ? i cant find them anywhere here or on the web .

I had the same problem that was driving me nuts . . . one skin was showing  . .  another didn't, and they were almost identical except for the names  :-/

 

Both were showing correctly in the Hangar, but only one in the mission: the shorter-named one.

This also goes for skins that have special characters in the names. I had two I downloaded last night with umlauts in them that did not show until I changed the letter to a standard “u.”

Thank you for the VVS Numbers Szelljr. I really like the handpainted ones. I was looking for those since a while now.

I cleaned them up a little for better use. The colours (white yellow red blue etc) I used aren't historic, they are just meant as a start.
