Docjonel Posted August 31, 2018 Posted August 31, 2018 (edited) The Collings Foundation, located not far from me in Stow, Massachusetts, is an amazing private collection of WWII armor and aircraft. Every year their Wings of Freedom Tour crosses the US with their airworthy B-17 Nine o' Nine, their B-24 Witchcraft, B-25 Tondelayo, and their TF-51D Mustang Toulouse Nuts. They also have a large collection of armor they showcase every October when they open their grounds to the public for The Battle for the Airfield. This is a bucket list level reenactment for any WWII buff. I shot this video at my first battle in 2014 and have attended every year since with my son: Yesterday on their Facebook page they displayed their newest acquisition, a Bf109 G-10! Read about it right here: https://www.facebook.com/collings.foundation/photos/a.658910720837667/1937751049620288/?type=3&theater In addition to these planes, the Collings Foundation now also has a Spitfire Mk.IX, a P-40, an Me-262 reproduction, an FM2 Wildcat, Grumman TBM Avenger, not to mention they fly their own F-100 Super Sabre and an F-4 Phantom! https://www.collingsfoundation.org/aircrafts/?tab=tab-two They recently also purchased the Jacques Littlefield Collection Panther (in excellent running condition) and are nearing completion of their amazing new American Heritage Museum, set to open sometime this fall. It will feature armor on display ranging from WWI to a Gulf War M1A1 Abrams. Would be great to see the Panther join their Stug, Hetzer, and SdKfz against the American armor. I can't wait for this year's battle re-enactment! Edited August 31, 2018 by Docjonel 2 1 3
Artunius Posted August 31, 2018 Posted August 31, 2018 I posted some pics of their planes over on the aviation history sub forum, but here's the link if you wanted to see them. https://imgur.com/a/xhEK78t
Feathered_IV Posted August 31, 2018 Posted August 31, 2018 Great fun to watch it from your son's perspective.
