I'm doing most of my flying on Coconut Normal at the moment, and having a thin time with ground attack aircraft. I see an arrow on the map with trucks or tanks marked, and fly there and search, but I can't find anything except AAA. The first time today I was flying at 1000m up and down a road and could see nothing until a flak burst from nowhere ruptured my fuel tank. I came back at 500m (the old Falcon 4 maxim of fly low OR high but not inbetween) and flew over a AAA gunners' reunion in the middle of nowhere. So should I be flying at treetop level and should I be concentrating on the roads, like in ROF? Should I have the canopy open (on a Sturmovik) to improve visibility)?

is the AAA excessive or is it a consequence of flying alone and not having the guns divvied up between several attackers?

War is hell isn't it? ?

Check the ranges of the AA. Stay above that set for the type of AA unit.

Feel like the single best way to avoid feeling victimised by AAA is to bring along at least 1, but preferably 4 or 5 friends. They can't target you all at once, and when an emplacement opens up at one of you, that's when one of your pals should roll in on it and unload as much of what our American cousins amusingly insist on referring to as 'freedom' on said gun emplacement as possible.

Absolutely so, and if you find yourself caught up in anything remotely resembling a fair fight, you are doing it wrong.

Finding the convoys and trains can take some time depending on where they are on the route they are taking. Also, you have to search all of the roads in the general area to find the convoys, trains, just follow the tracks. I have found that the trains have better AA protection, the convoys usually just one AA vehicle at the rear. Most times for convoys/trains I'll take a Yak with a couple of bombs (easily dumped if you get jumped).  I can usually take out an entire convoy this way. I'll fly in around 1000 - 2000 meters depending on how close I am to enemy airfields or attackers.

Thanks for the advice, all. I am gradually picking this up.
