What improvements are coming to IL2?

Apart from tanks,WWI planes, BOBp , what new changes are coming to IL?

I saw a post from Jason about a new animation for fuel leaks ,those kinds improvements are good, also different effects when wooden parts get hit.

 

Any word on fuel managment, instrument gauges working properly (fuel and oil press) hydraulic damage modelling, or improved AI?

Or any other new features coming  that has been mentioned?

 

Hope they keep  the sim improving and making it even better than what it is at the moment.

One thing is certain, and that is that the team will continue to improve IL-2. Some of the improvements are semi-well known about and other improvements they keep pretty close to the chest until they know that its going to happen. The raindrops on the canopy for example was long requested and was quite a surprise when they announced it.

 

Fuel management is up there along with better communications on the list of things that the community want to see. I think we'll see a smattering of improvements to the series as Bodenplatte development continues. There's going to be a lot of knock-on effects where efforts to improve say Flying Circus or Tank Crew also improve everything else. I don't think we know too much about the current plans but I'm sure we'll find them out when the team knows they can commit to make it happen.

Better fuel load modeling and at least a certain degree of fuel management is coming - likely at the same as the introduction of drop tanks. It was one of the things the devs wanted to do for BoK but had to postpone due to time constraints.

 

Almost every other update brings some improvement to AI, but we know pretty much nothing about what lies ahead in that department. What is more or less certain though is, that improvements to AI will be implemented gradually a little bit at a time. I don’t think we are going to see a single, major overhaul of the AI.

 

Regarding radio comms: I have some hope, that we might see a good deal of improvement there. For BoBP development the devs have to get back into the recording studio for the first time in years. They are well aware of the limitations the current radio comms puts on SP experience (remember: when the current system was made, this was a much simpler game) I remain hopeful, that they will take this opportunity to rework radio comms significantly for the entire sim. Let’s face it: If they make anything but a direct copy of the current system for the US/UK side in BoBP, they pretty much have to make the same improvements for the LW, and if they make them for the LW they have to make them for the VVS.

That would be good.  Although it would not surprise me if the current system remains the same and an Off setting is simply introduced in the main menu.

I'd like to see more comprehensive icon options, and better stats at the end of a mission - I still can't believe there's no shooting %.

This is something they could to with the community like various mod teams do (eg. Black Mesa, Skywind... ). Many people will have suitable skills and equipment and would be willing to do it for free I reckon, and it's not like it has to be the best quality, it's going to be run through numerous filters to emulate severely distorted radio signals, just as long as there's not too much room reflection.

I would think so as well, but IIRC this has been turned down by the devs for a number of practical reasons.

Oh really? That's a shame, I would've been keen to try it, I can do a fair range of British accents, American's not quite there yet, and I speak German but I still sound a little Kiwi to Germans, lol.

I agree.  Although I'd love to have Farah Black follow me around all day and check every room before I enter.

I'm hopping for at least two or three additional versions of 109s and 190s with near imperceptible differences to design and FM!
