I have just bought second-hand GTX 1080 Ti (to replace my GTX 1070).

Note: I have LCD ASUS ROG Swift PG278QR 27" with QHD resolution, 165 Hz and G-Sync.

With 1070 I was using TrackIR with Speed = 1 and Smoothing = 10 and it worked well (my FPS was around 100-120 on average)

But with 1080 Ti and the same Track IR setting I notice stuttering while turning my head - especially with higher FPS above 130.

So I set Smoothing = 0 and stuttering completely disappear but on the other hand, constant shaking of the cockpit appears (even with my head completely still) because there is now no filtering of the Track IR input. This can be eliminated by setting curves around center line more horizontal (not so steep) but because e.g. on YAW axis I need to be able to see backward it is inevitable to set curves steeper further from the center line. And that leads to shaking while looking to the 90° and more degrees... and I cannot eliminate this.

If someone here has similar hi-end HW, would you please share your settings?

Thanks.

Interesting.

I'm using TrackIR + GTX 970 on an Acer Predator XB271HUbmiprz (WQHD + G-Sync, 165Hz) and I have the same stuttering while turning my head.

I never considered changing TrackIR settings, all I can say is that the issue came up with latest updates (past the big 3.0 update, somewhere along 3.003 or so).

Will try the smoothing=0 (currently I have it on 5) and report back.

Just checked and indeed it seems like disabling TrackIR smoothing improves the stuttering issue a lot, at the expense of having a jittery head movement.

Then I tried to increase the smoothing gradually again, and so far I find smoothing=2 to be quite promising with the "Pro" TrackIR infrared LED clip attached (not so much with the passive reflector clips though).

Have you checked out Requiem"s TIR profile and settings; one one the best out there..

Yesterday I was trying some other settings and independently came to the similar conclusion like you, i.e. Smoothing = 2 seems to work best for me.

Yes, but a long time ago. Maybe I check this again to see if it can give me some fresh idea...

After further testing I must say that the stuttering didn't change much from reducing or even completely eliminating TrackIR smoothing.

Essentially, it seems like it happens at any time when the game has to load textures, be it because you turn your head or just because you get closer to another object and the LOD changes.
