Legioneod Posted August 25, 2018 Posted August 25, 2018 New to Photoshop and I can't figure out how to move the Alpha to the channels section after I edit it. Coming form Gimp I could just drag and drop (or copy paste can't remember) the layer into the channels section in order to have a new alpha. I tried copy and paste but it wont copy the image in the layers section and paste it into the channels section. Basically I cant move an image in the layers tab to the Channels tab. How do I do this?
Legioneod Posted August 27, 2018 Author Posted August 27, 2018 Thankyou. I feel stupid for not being able to figure this out, in gimp you just copy paste. Thanks
Raptorattacker Posted August 27, 2018 Posted August 27, 2018 Yeah, it's basically the same principle but this is the way to isolate the individual Alpha Channel. No problems. This is the way I do it anyway and it works! You never know, someone else may come up with an easier route and then we'll both be educated?!!

Just tried it but it doesnt seem to be working. When I hit save selection as channel it just creates a all white alpha channel. Not sure whats wrong.
Raptorattacker Posted August 27, 2018 Posted August 27, 2018 (edited) Yes but if you just hit CTRL+C it will save the Alpha and then you paste over the Alpha of the DDS skin file. As long as you've 'Flattened' the layers before you go through the process in the second two pictures it WILL work. Have you actually TRIED going on to paste into the Alpha of the finished skin?. Trusssssssst in me..... Edited August 27, 2018 by Raptorattacker

Raptorattacker Posted August 28, 2018 Posted August 28, 2018 Well, I've just done TEN alphas for 10 different skins and it worked for me. Don't highlight the white channel, just flatten the image and make sure you've 'selected all' with the marquee tool (as it says) and then go to 'Channels' and then hit that button (which DOES create a white Alpha but DON'T highlight it, like in the 3rd picture) and just CTRL+C then CTRL+V onto the HIGHLIGHTED Alpha channel of the finished dds.

Thanks, it worked. Didn't know I wasn't supposed to highlight the alpha. Thanks for you're patience and help.
