[BUG?] Point blank shots almost useless - Tiger eating 50 APHE/AP/APCR

In Multiplayer matches it often appears that point blank shots are almost useless. All shots fired are some sort of AP. APCR even has a penetration value of 127mm (?) at point blank range but was unable to cause catastrophic damage to the Tiger.  In the end I was killing the Tiger from ~300m (I am only visible in the background of the video).

I have observed this with other tanks also.

Netcode issue or are point blank shots generally less leathal ingame for some reason?

Yea, that certainly doesn't seem right, unless the tiger tank is set to invulnerable in its' 'advanced' settings. That could explain it. :salute:

It was certainly not invulnerable as I could destroy it in the end. ?

216th Jordan,

Just for my own interest and clarification, you are showing as a tester.  Therefore, surely you guys must have access or points of contacts to be able to discuss this stuff directly with the developers or other testers to be able to report this stuff without airing it in public or is this more of a fact finding video?  I only ask, as I always assumed that there was an unwritten code of conduct being a tester that you guys (Male and female term before anybody gets excited) did not air this type of thing in the open and just worked behind the scene like a group of BRIXMIS boys!?

Regarding you observation(s), I've never got that close for it to effect me as I either kill or get killed at about 400m out!  However, it might be worth while raising it in the bug section or tank bug area if you believe that there is a problem, as it would appear to be a strange one!

However, as testers perhaps Jason only gave you blanks to practice with!?

Regards

Given that you can select it, could it be the fuse?

Haza,

there is a code of conduct and an NDA for testers. This however is showing in the public version of the game, not the beta. The point of posting here was to also get the impressions of other players as the problem (if it is one) is hard to pinpoint and thats also why there is a questionmark after 'BUG'. (I also linked this in the Bug-reporting area)

I was asking this myself too, however many rounds used were AP or APCR, hence no fuze at all.

I've never really had problems killing tigers up close, maybe it's a bug. Where were you aiming? Mabe the rounds were penetrating but not hitting anything vital or they just went through.

Along that line.  Do the projectiles need to travel a certain distance to arm?

At least 70 rounds hit the Tank, most of them fired at the weak Spots on the sides. As I said, I've had some encounters also with T-34 vs PzIII where almost dozens of Shells were exchanged while at medium ranges often less hits were required. I was not abke to perform an empircal study on this as my time is very limited right now, so I'd rely on infos from others.

My personal guess would be that it is a netcode problem maybe, but no clue really. Just feels very odd. This cannot be properly tested in SP as the AI tanks do not use the same damagemodel AFAIK, so this would need to be tested in MP. Maybe someone could make some tests with a small map and tank-bases right besides each others at medium and low ranges for comparison.

As stated before, most shells fired were AP and APCR, which do not use fuzes but still cause quite a ot of damage inside a tank on penetration. (Which should be guaranteed at point blank at least to the sides)

I just asked the question " how to kill a Tiger Tank" and came up with this thread  because I was inflicting no damage up close with the APCR...  Some are suggesting  it seems there might be some form of glitch not yet ironed out.

But another said they were not experiencing any difficulties:  for those of you who are not having any problems, what is the procedure?!!

I read some people has issues while others no problem at all. So is it possible that has something to do with netcode?

I ask this cause same thing happens to me and some teammates in air to air; before this patch we inflicted more damage to LW planes with 20mm + 12.7/7.62 ;  but devs confirmed they changed nothing regarding guns, so probably has something to do with the netcode?

I think and I really hope that the " final" damage/penetration modeling is not implemented yet, otherwise I would be greatly disappointed.

Right now its like playing arcade game
