beresford Posted August 23, 2018 Posted August 23, 2018 (edited) I flew two missions, one on-line and one off-line, with two internal bombs selected. When I got up to altitude and went to the bombsight, no bombs were present. So I selected the big external bomb and checked it was there in external view before I started the engines. When I got to the runway, the bomb had disappeared. What gives? Also... I'm climbing to a height of 3k. At some point in the last k or so of climb I find that 100% throttle only gives 0.8 ATA, even though RPM is around 2100. What am I doing wrong? Edited August 23, 2018 by beresford
F/JG300_Gruber Posted August 23, 2018 Posted August 23, 2018 (edited) Double check that you don't have any conflicting input that may make you release your bombs during taxiing (same button as brakes or whatever) If nothing, that may be a new bug, never had this problem before. For the engine manifold pressure, you don't have a variable supercharger like on the 109 and 110s, it is a simple two stages supercharger, with the second stage engaging automatically at 3000m. So in the last few hundred meters, the first stage will start to be out of potential. What you can do though, is increase your RPM to 2400 during the climb, it will allow your manifold pressure to get up to ~1.1ATA in that critical altitude. You will also get a much better climb rate altogether. Climbing power can be used for at least 30 minutes, more than enough to get up to 4000m and above. No reasons to stay at 2100RPM when you are not at your cruising altitude. Just keep an eye on the oil and water temperature gauges and you will be just fine ! Edited August 23, 2018 by F/JG300_Gruber
beresford Posted August 23, 2018 Author Posted August 23, 2018 (edited) Thank you. Next question.... is there a command to close the sun roof? If you are flying with complex engine mode it can get hard to see when the sun is on the instruments. Edit: You were right about the double-mapping, I had set b2 and b3 on my Sidewinder to toe brakes (so you don't need three hands to take off) without realising that b2 was already mapped to bombs. I don't remember being warned like IL2 1946 did. So if you drop bombs with the bomb doors closed, do they then roll out if you open the doors. Flew a bit on a Kuban Summer server and the engines seemed less powerful than Stalingrad Winter, is this a function of ambient temperature? Edited August 23, 2018 by beresford
F/JG300_Gruber Posted August 23, 2018 Posted August 23, 2018 (edited) Unfortunately, no way to operate the sunscreens in the cockpit. That would be a cool feature to have ! For the bomb bay thing, I'm not 100% sure but it is very possible that it may drop something when you open the doors though it is not supposed to work like that. Have to check that. And yes engine performance is greatly influenced by outside air temperature as it should be. On a very cold day you can climb up to 5000m in less than 20min, on hot summer maps sometimes 30min will put you no higher than 4000m. (You may already know it, but in the Heinkel the outside air thermometer is located above your head, next to the fuel gauges) Edited August 23, 2018 by F/JG300_Gruber
