I thought I would post this, just in case anyone was thinking about going VR.

Dell are currently selling their Windows Mixed Reality headset with controllers for £232.50 including delivery in the UK, which is an excellent price for one of the best WMR headsets. I bought this headset a few weeks ago for £279 which I thought was a great price then, I bought it over the rift after a recommendation from a forum member.

It's £168.99 without the controllers. Are the controllers necessary for flight sims?

They are not. Actually you are not able to use the controllers in the sim. Maybe you can use the buttons but not the whole controller as it is designed to be used so it wouldn't be practical.

I recommend the controllers regardless. When I bought my Rift, I originally planned to ebay the controllers off as I bought it exclusively for IL2 and DCS. But after trying a couple free games with them, I changed my mind. I play just as much in VR outside flight sims as I do in, and outside of flight/racing sims, the controllers are essential.

Yep same here, I do a lot of gaming with the Touch controllers. Certainly not as much as flying, but still  a pretty fair amount.

Love the Oculus Touch Controllers with my Rift.

I was only planing on using my head set for Sims only, but I have bought Startrek bridge crew and Batman VR. Which both require controllers, plus they are really useful for the Windows vr environment.

So I would recommend getting them.

Star Trek Bridge Crew is awesome, that is the one I am spending the most time in currently with the Touch Controllers.  I was a big Trekkie fan anyway so it fits into my gaming perfectly.

I can't wait til I move in my new home that is being built in hopefully five months or so, so I have a room scale play area bigger than a prison cell. Then maybe I can try those VR milsims. Sit down games are fine.

Controllers a must.

Sparc is a epic fun game. A good workout too.
