adler_1 Posted August 23, 2018 Posted August 23, 2018 i skinned using a template from here and converted from bmp to DDS in PS and placed it in the skin folder , in the editor it appears as a selection and i saved the game but it wont appear in game ,what am i missing ?
9./JG27golani79 Posted August 23, 2018 Posted August 23, 2018 Did you switch to "Custom" in the paint scheme selection?
adler_1 Posted August 23, 2018 Author Posted August 23, 2018 (edited) no i did not , i have one more question , i tried saving the mission under a different name to see if it appears and strangely enough it doesnt appear in game but it doubled the original mission so i see the first mission twice in the mission selection even though in the mission folder both are there , why is that ? i will apply what you pointed out right away . i just did what you pointed out and though it loaded the skin when confirmed i get a burnt aircraft !!! what am i doing wrong Edited August 23, 2018 by dog1
9./JG27golani79 Posted August 23, 2018 Posted August 23, 2018 Sorry, can´t be of help with the mission editor and related stuff, as I´ve never used it myself.
adler_1 Posted August 23, 2018 Author Posted August 23, 2018 (edited) do you have any idea why the aircraft appears as burnt even thought the skin is accepted ? the DDs file is 2.66 mb . Edited August 23, 2018 by dog1
9./JG27golani79 Posted August 23, 2018 Posted August 23, 2018 Seems like a problem with your alpha channel. Maybe you can find some useful information here: There was also another topic I think where the alpha channel was discussed but I can´t seem to find it atm.
DetCord12B Posted August 23, 2018 Posted August 23, 2018 It's not burnt. You can see right through it. That's definitely an alpha channel issue as mentioned by 9./JG27golani79 which you're losing when converting. And since you're using PS there is no need to convert anything. Use either the Nvidia Tools or the new suite from Intel Texture Works and export directly from Photoshop.
Psyrion Posted August 23, 2018 Posted August 23, 2018 Yes, it looks like you didn´t apply the alpha as a layer mask over the flattened image?
adler_1 Posted August 23, 2018 Author Posted August 23, 2018 i installed both Nvidia and Intel converters to CS2 but both dont show up in the save as menu when trying to save as DDS , Intel mentions it requires PS 6 .

Make sure you installed the correct version for your OS. File > Save As > Save as type: > D3D/DDS > DXT5 8bpp

adler_1 Posted August 23, 2018 Author Posted August 23, 2018 the NVidia confirms it supports CS2 as well but there is no mention of operating system or bites .Its just one download and install , i have checked the route when installing it goes to Adobe photoshopCS2 folder but it wont appear as a window in PS such as your photo above when saving or in the selection save as .

I don't know why it isn't working as NTT supports CS2. Option 2 - Free Trial
adler_1 Posted August 23, 2018 Author Posted August 23, 2018 (edited) here is the image which confirms the DDS plug in is in the CS2 . i will try rebooting installing CS fre trial i am installing the 7 day free trial , i will report back tomorrow with results since its late here and its installing really slowly . Edited August 23, 2018 by dog1 UPDATE
adler_1 Posted August 23, 2018 Author Posted August 23, 2018 i have installed the CC free trial and reinstalled both intel and nvidia converters and checked the files of the plug ins are there but still save as DDS does not appear .
DetCord12B Posted August 23, 2018 Posted August 23, 2018 (edited) Then you're doing something wrong. Make sure you uninstall your previous version of Photoshop and the plugin. Reinstall the plugin to the new version of CC. Edited August 23, 2018 by DetCord12B
adler_1 Posted August 23, 2018 Author Posted August 23, 2018 its obvious im doing something wrong since i manually installed the files of both intel and Nvidia .ok i will uninstall the free CS2 and reinstall the plugins to CC .
adler_1 Posted August 23, 2018 Author Posted August 23, 2018 i uninstalled CS2 and installed manually the 2 scripts presets of nvidia in scripts and the 2 plugins files in the plugin generator folder , no show in save as . i then did the same for Intel same result . Its 2 files in preset/script and 2 files in plugin/Generator folder .

adler_1 Posted August 24, 2018 Author Posted August 24, 2018 DXT5 makes it extremely polished , what is the setting for flat in Nvidia plug in ? and what are the parameters to play with to get to the tone i wish .Flat and Satin .

Flat? Do you mean a matte, a almost non-reflective surface? If so, you'll need to adjust the alpha layer to do that as none of the BoX aircraft or vehicles have specular maps, which is unfortunate. EDIT - I'd suggest being very careful in doing so else you'll end up with the aircraft looking like it does in the second image you posted. Edited August 24, 2018 by DetCord12B
adler_1 Posted August 25, 2018 Author Posted August 25, 2018 yes flat is matte , to adjust the alpha layer i use the Nvidia tool and choose from DXT 1 to 5 only ? nothing else i can play around with in PS in filters drop down menu ? slide bars etc ?
