SeaQuark Posted January 28, 2014 Posted January 28, 2014 Hi there, new to IL-2. I'm wondering what the applicability is-- if any-- of actual WW2 flight manuals and training films to operating in-game aircraft? Aside from simple HUD and keyboard controls, is it theoretically possible to operate a simulated plane exclusively from sources such as the following? http://www.allworldwars.com/IL-2-Illustrated-Flight-Manual.html http://www.allworldwars.com/videos/IL-2%20Pilot%20Manual/How-to-fly-IL-2-Sturmovik-1943.html Just something I was curious about! Thanks!

Thanks! The fantastic A2ASimulations B-17G with AccuSim for FSX can be flown and operated according to the original manuals (that are also part of the package). As far a flying and operating a simulated aircraft goes it's my favourite by far. Wish one day I'll see such details in a combat flight sim.
Sokol1 Posted March 3, 2014 Posted March 3, 2014 Ju 87 Stuka manuals (in German) http://www.avialogs.com/index.php/en/aircraft/germany/junkers/ju87stuka.html Sturmovik - Combat tactics (In Spanish - at least better than in Russion or German ). http://www.rkka.es/Manuales/003_manuales_tacticas/001_manual_tacticas_pstygo_il2/003_bombardeo.htm Various others manuals - most Russian (translated to Spanish). http://www.rkka.es/Manuales/index_manuales.htm SOkol1
Sokol1 Posted March 4, 2014 Posted March 4, 2014 Get this (in Russian) http://freechecklists.net/Resources/Lavochkin/LaGG-3/ Is in HTML open in Chrome and translate Russian>English - is usable. IMO - RL procedures don't fit well in games. Sokol1
Sokol1 Posted March 4, 2014 Posted March 4, 2014 Perhaps more useful - the original LaGG-3 1943 VVS manual adapted to il-2 BoS combat flight simulation by 72AG_martefi. - Added necessary procedures to successfully fly a CFS online (computer, joystick, Internet... "check"). - Remove from original manual procedures that don't affect the CFS, like rules for aircraft pre flight external visual inspection. In .doc format (easy to cut and past to translate) - in Russian. http://forum.il2sturmovik.ru/index.php?app=core&module=attach§ion=attach&attach_id=5786 Or in PDF format http://forum.il2sturmovik.ru/index.php?app=core&module=attach§ion=attach&attach_id=5785 Sokol1
