Sparky_IBEW_353 Posted August 22, 2018 Posted August 22, 2018 Maybe there is a discussion about this somewhere else, but I haven't been able to find it. I've been flying with Virpil stick, extensions and desk mount for the past few weeks, and am generally pretty impressed with it. I do find however that I can't get the stick in the most comfortable spot when sitting in my Herman Miller office chair. The grip is just too far forward, even with the edge of the chair almost touching the stick. Maybe if the geometry of my simpit were more akin to a real plane this would be less of an issue, but the reality is I sit upright in an office chair at a desk. Has anyone out there come up with a solution to offset the grip closer to the pilot? I'm seriously considering taking this problem to a machinist to get something custom made. I feel like I need somewhere between two and four inches of offset to make this thing comfortable. Cheers Sparky
dburne Posted August 22, 2018 Posted August 22, 2018 (edited) Not that I have seen, but if you find anyone offering an offset extension for the Warthog it will certainly work with the Virpil stick. Maybe it is your particular chair? I too use an office chair and don't really have an issue with it. Edited August 22, 2018 by dburne
1PL-Husar-1Esk Posted August 23, 2018 Posted August 23, 2018 I had to mod desktop mount but in contrast it was to close for me.

Yes, i have bought some cheap used car seat with removable leg support. It has geometry close to plane seat. Something like that, but with removed legs support: Edited August 24, 2018 by bies

Was the entire stick and base too close? Or did you want the grip further away from your body? I found the deskmount itself sticks out quite a bit, and also isn't really low enough with the two longer extension pieces installed. I mounted a bracket under my desk for the mount to clamp to in order to get the stick lower still, and to bring the front face of the deskmount flush with the edge of the desk.

Yes ,I had exactly same problem as you .But still is not low enough for all 3 extensions together. But if it would go lower I would have to change everything ,now leading edge of chair is under base, so I can move closer to my desk. Edited August 24, 2018 by 307_Tomcat
Sokol1 Posted August 24, 2018 Posted August 24, 2018 "S" extension draw for Warthog, but VPC use the same connector: https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=209442

The forward tilt looks good too. If someone were selling this I'd throw my money at them.
czech693 Posted August 26, 2018 Posted August 26, 2018 Since he's offering the digital plans, why don't you contact this site and see if someone will pop it out on their 3D printer using those plans. I bought the throttle detent modification from here and it works great (you don't have to lift the throttle into afterburner, the "hump" is smaller. My plan was for this to be the activation point for WEP or Boost). I think I would buy an "S" curve adaptor once I get my cockpit situation finalized. https://www.shapeways.com/marketplace/?tag=warthog&s=52#more-products
