Hi everybody,

Let's say I'm french... sorry for my ortograph.

 

Ok, I would like to run on my PC (Win10 / Intel i7 / Nvidia Ge Force 940M with 2 GB dedicated RAM + 4 GB DDR3 L Memory ) The wonderfull IL-2 Cliffs of Dover.

 

I intented to load free this simultator. However, after installing, a message appears :

Steam must be running to play IL-2 sturmovik: Cliffs of Dover. Please launch Steam and try again.

 

Of course I created an account on Steam and then, even to log on, I cannot success to run IL-2.... A pity !!!

 

So my question is : is somebody could indicate me a way to success my IL-2 runnig ?

Salut Jo et bienvenue sur le forum!

Il te dit que Steam doit être lancé. Peut être que si tu quittes steam et que tu le relance, cela marchera.

peut être aussi que relancer ton pc aidera.

iL2 and cliffs of dover are two different games. What are you trying to run?

Hello Jopalbol

 

I am sorry to say your system is weak.  The CPU is ok, but video card is not sufficient to run the game properly and the RAM should be minimum 8 gb.

 

This is probably why your game is not launching.

 

But there also may be other reasons.

 

You need to post a list of programs for us to see.

 

Go to this thread to see:

We would also like to see a crash log.

 

Go into your Documents/1C SoftClub/il-2 sturmovik cliffs of dover/ folder and open the confs.ini file.

 

Conform it so it looks like this:

So, I didn't find any logfile under IL-2\ root nor Games\IL 2 Sturmovik Cliffs of Dover Blitz....

Hello jopalbol

 

You need to change the 0 in "LOGKEEP" to 1

 

Then you will have a logfile generated when you have a crash... or if you start the game.

Well, my question is : not taking into account the PC techincal configuration, is STEAM obliged to be running to run IL2 itself ?

Oups... sorry to insist but is there any possibility to run IL-2 without Steam watever the version of IL-2 ?

No... Steam is required.

 

Where did you purchase your game?  CLIFFS OF DOVER - BLITZ is only available as a download on Steam.

So, coming back to the technical specifs,

 

I saw the minimal required configuration is in particulary :

OS : Windows® XP SP3 / Windows Vista® SP2 /Windows 7®
Processor : Pentium ® Dual-Core 2.0 Ghz ou AMD Athlon X2 3800+
RAM : 2 GB
Carte Graphical card : 512 MB compatible avec DirectX®  9.0c ou supérieur (voir liste)
 

And the minimal recommanded is :

Processor : Intel Core® i5 @ 2.66 GHz ou AMD Phenom II X4 @ 2.6Ghz ou supérieur
Carte Graphique : 1 GB compatible avec DirectX® 9.0c ou supérieur (voir liste)
RAM : 4 GB

 

As my PC includes i7 processor and a graphic card GeForce 940M with 2 GB Dedicated VRAM, I suppose it is enought to run IL-2

Those are the required specs for the old game... the original CLIFFS OF DOVER, not CLIFFS OF DOVER - BLITZ.  And even though you could run Windows XP, the old CoD did not work at all well with that operating system.

 

In order to implement DX11, BLITZ does not support Windows XP or Vista.

 

If you look on the Steam page for the details regarding required specs you will see these:

 

  • Minimum:
    • Requires a 64-bit processor and operating system
    • OS: Windows 7 64-bit
    • Processor: Intel Core I5 6500 or equivalent
    • Memory: 8 GB RAM
    • Graphics: Direct X 11.0 compliant 4 gb
    • DirectX: Version 11
    • Storage: 8 GB available space
    • Sound Card: DirectX 11 compatible
    • Additional Notes: Joystick and keyboard

ok,

 

As a first point, the RAM of my PC is 4GB... I agree It is not enough regarding the 8GB requested.

Now, I'll be very pleased to find the logfile of both Steam and IL-2 to confirm the reasons of the no trun...

 

Mat be have you an idea of the respective usual name of these log file. Have you and idea on there root ?

Nvidia Ge Force 940M

 

This VGA is too weak for run CloD with acceptable graphics and FPS.
