beresford Posted August 20, 2018 Posted August 20, 2018 When flying the HE 111 offline, I get alternating demands to increase the throttle to climb mode and reduce the throttle to stop flying around in combat mode. Which should I react to, bearing in mind that there is no visible WEP indicator on the throttle stand?
THERION Posted August 20, 2018 Posted August 20, 2018 So you're asking why you get technical advises during offline flying, but actually not during online flying? If so, got to your realism settings and check what aides are activated. Cheers
beresford Posted August 20, 2018 Author Posted August 20, 2018 No mate, what I am saying is that the technical advice I get is contradictory. Technochat: Don't fly around in combat mode, reduce throttle. <Reduces throttle by 1%> Technochat: Increase throttle to climb mode. <Increases throttle by 1%> Technochat: Don't fly around in combat mode, reduce throttle. ….and so on. There is no visible sign AFAIK of whether you are on WEP or not.

THERION Posted August 20, 2018 Posted August 20, 2018 You are right, Kemp. As with most of the German planes, you need to watch your ata-values. Beresford, here I copied an excerpt of the ata-values of the HE-111: Heinkel He-111 (H6 and H16) Engine: Jumo-211F Time limit RPM ATA Nominal - 2,250 1.15 Climb 30 min 2,400 1.25 Take-off 1 min 2,600 1.42 You can find all the important informations in this document, which you can download on this forum (forgotten where): Pilots notes Aug 6, 2018.zip
beresford Posted August 21, 2018 Author Posted August 21, 2018 Thank you for your advice. I am preparing crib sheets for the four BOS aircraft I am likely to be flying (the bombers, I am hopeless at dogfighting and don't have the kit some players do), and have done the HE 111 and Ju 87 so far. In my sole attempt at divebombing I was shot down by AAA immediately after inverting for the dive, so I guess the flak is a big factor in this game. Probably why Requiem drops his bomb immediately in his training video rather than doing the characteristic prolonged dive. I intend to make sure I can take off, hit the target, and land reliably before I go MP. Probably won't need to land as some kind person will help me to the ground first

There is no visible sign AFAIK of whether you are on WEP or not. Don't look at technochat, it's fiction and it will lie to you. Use parameters -IRRE-Therion- wrote. Technochat will tell you "you are combat mode, dont fly at combat mode during cruise" and so on even if you exceed parameters with 1%. I.e. Climb is 2,400 RPM / 1.25 ata, but even if you exeed this parameters with tiny amount like 2,420 RPM / 1.25 ata - technochat will tell you his "you are combat mode, dont fly at combat mode during cruise" but it will not cause any negative consequences for your engine. Technochat is a relict of old which should help new players to gain some general idea. Have a fun with the game.
SCG_Schneemann Posted August 21, 2018 Posted August 21, 2018 +1 ^^ You need to learn without technochat. It's like having someone in the car telling you when to shift or brake without really knowing what you are doing. You will soon figure out that German engines like about 1.2 ATA for most things, Cruise is about 1.0 to save fuel/let others catch up/wing up, and firewalled throttle you need to be careful after between 30 seconds in some to 2-3 minutes in others. Trying to adjust by 1-2% is not really flying, it's following some "rule". Turn it off
JonRedcorn Posted August 21, 2018 Posted August 21, 2018 You don't have to fully remove the technochat just turn off the tips part, just leave the factual stuff on, like what percent your stuff is at. Some of the planes it's not possible to see trim levels or how far a radiator is open so it's a little useful.
