Picchio Posted August 23, 2018 Posted August 23, 2018 I'm posing the question again just in case I missed some info somewhere... are there any news on the development of the Career? Is it still being developed? I remember there were new mission types being planned to release in June... 1

Il-2 Forgotten Battles made me love that war, as someone who at that point in high school probably couldn't have found Finland on a map.

Nosedive_Ned Posted August 24, 2018 Posted August 24, 2018 So excited now............. For the 262 Fans..............(Taken at Cosford Air Museum) 2 2
=DMD=Marduk879 Posted August 28, 2018 Posted August 28, 2018 Awesome, i can already hear the hammers pounding! :)
SailorMcintosh Posted August 28, 2018 Posted August 28, 2018 Can't wait to use it in IL-2 Bodenplatte enviroment. Awesome machine.
D3adCZE Posted August 28, 2018 Posted August 28, 2018 I can already see german pilots turnfighting yaks on deck on Berloga in this thing.

Just look at the MiG-29 or F-16 (1200km and 925km respectively) there were also no super sonic wind tunnels at the time, nobody even knew what the sound barrier was. the swept wings were revolutionary for the time. and nobody could've done it any better with the knowledge of the time. that's like saying they used bows and arrows even though firearms are much more effective. For jets the flight duration will be more limiting than range. The 262 range quoted above will only happen when sticking to an optimal profile. That is get high fast and stay there long. Otherwise, the jets will gulp through their gas in a heartbeat. That's a fundamental constraint on jets and turboprops in general. Also, neither was the P-51 designed as an escort, nor was the 262 specifically designed an aerial defense fighter. As for supersonic wind-tunnels (sorry folks, a paper written in German): http://www.dglr.de/publikationen/2015/340001.pdf It basicly states - there was a supersonic windtunnel in Peenemünde, built in 1937 - there was a windtunnel at ETH Zürich in 1935 - there was a transonic windtunnel in the Oetztal (which was deconstructed and taken to France, where it is in use by ONERA today) - Germany was building a Mach 7-10 hypersonic windtunnel during the war The principle of achieving supersonic flow was no issue. Building a dynamically sound airplane for those speeds, however, was. BTW: Swept wings had been known since 1935 and the 262 (at least in it's operational iterations) had nothing to do with it. The wings were swept back at 18° for CoG reasons. What is more interesting is that Junkers actually worked on the area-rule principle during the war. 1 1
=/WoVi/=kirumovka Posted August 30, 2018 Posted August 30, 2018 Can the blue tinting opacity be reduced? reverse-flux ftw

As you probably noticed, on one of the recent updates, 3.005 in July, some new single-player missions for every aircraft were added to Battle of Kuban. The campaign's the same as is Sea Dragons but some of the single player missions were added without announcement to now include every aircraft. I saw it on Shamrock's stormbirds.blog article about IL2 update 3.005 Article on Kuban missions for every aircraft included in 3.005 update
Trooper117 Posted August 31, 2018 Posted August 31, 2018 SP missions have nothing to do with the career... so no, there is no news on the extra mission types we were told would be included at some point.

Hi Trooper, I'm curious about the career missions development as well, but i suspect that those might be added with the release of the Po-2. It would make sense to add some new mission types with that plane. Otherwise it would be useless for SP (And MP in less extent). Grt M

If they have been postponed to the release of another aircraft (?) I would have appreciated if it were made clear.
Trooper117 Posted August 31, 2018 Posted August 31, 2018 lol!... you know Jason and crew like to surprise us from time to time
DK_nme Posted June 27, 2019 Posted June 27, 2019 So, with the "Schwalbe" on the loose, we can expect to see what in the near future? Lancasters? Halifaxes? B-17's? B-24's? B-26 Marauders? And further more: A-20G Havocs? P-38J's? Typhoons? Me-410? ... ?
