KWmwennerholm Posted August 16, 2018 Posted August 16, 2018 Hi! I use my Thrustmaster Hotas Warthog, stick and throttle when I fly my Milviz F-4E, VRS F/A-18E, A2A Spitfire, PMDG B744, FSL A320-A319. It works just great! I have a suggestion to dev. team in 1CGS: Add comparability for using HOTAS stick and throttle in future product please. For Now I have to fly with the mouse which is, for me, very hard, uncool and unrealistic. I have try to program my HOTAS equipment in order to fly IL 2 acft. but only the mouse works. Apart from this issue, IL 2 seems to be an interesting software. 1

Sure this combo works fine in BOX - thinking of your statement you only can fly with the mouse, I suggest to go to the settings and check the input device options. Looks like this: If mouse is selected, you won't be able to use your joystick. Cheers
KWmwennerholm Posted August 16, 2018 Author Posted August 16, 2018 (edited) Thank´s for info! Yes, I was the only problem? I made some settings in data/input/joysffmap.cfg and now it works fine. Now I am in a new issue; the camera do not move when I use my Joystick-Hat or keyboard. Maybe it is how it works but I can not fly as a fth.plt using only Mouse Yoke. I will be dead before tomorrow. BeastyBaiter Posted August 16, 2018 Posted August 16, 2018 Your new mistake was making changes in data/input/joysffmap.cfg instead of adjusting the settings in game. Don't overthink it, just go into the settings screen in game and adjust things how you'd like. You'll probably need to remap all the axis and buttons. IL2 recognizes many devices at once, but it doesn't know which are rudder pedals and which is a flight stick. It simply labels them "x-axis 3" and such. So you will need to go in and remap it for a HOTAS setup.

I'd like to give you this advise: Don't mess around too much with those config files, especially when you apparently are not sure, what you're doing. Once you messed up such a config file, it is difficult to resolve an issue because very often, you don't know anymore what you modified and how it might be related with other issues. The game offers you quite good possibilities to configure and setup your input devices. And I'm sure you would never have noticed the trick with the mouse by fiddling your config files. Just an well-intended advice - you won't waste your time and keep the level of frustration low... and most important, you will enjoy this game, mate. Cheers 2

In IL FAQ I find a suggestion to make change in .cfg. I have already all axis and key deleted because I do not like std key. I use to listen to people how know more then I know about a software, even in my office. If I understand you right, I have to reinstall the IL 2 to avoid hidden issue in the future? I haver already messed up the .cfg. 11 hours ago, 15th_JonRedcorn said: ? 11 hours ago, 15th_JonRedcorn said: ? Are you a founder? You behave as a kid. Edited August 17, 2018 by KWmwennerholm

I haver already messed up the .cfg. No problem, mate. No, I didn't say that - I don't think it is necessary to reinstall the whole bunch. I assume you still can launch the game, right? Just configure what you need and wish in the game in your settings. That's it. And if you can't let it be and you can't live without messing around in your config files, so make a copy before you modify anything. You see, as long as these config files are not correctly documented, it is difficult to all of us fiddling with it. There are some known parameters, but not every command line in these files are officially commented. If I can help you, so tell me. I'm not a software guru, but I can try. Nobody here in this forum is happy, when someone is struggling with the great game. I'm sure there are guys listening to you and willing to help out. Cheers

Telling the devs to add joystick support to their simulator because you can't figure it out is pretty childish. The game literally defaults to joystick config, maybe next time turn the game on first before you dive into the CFG files especially when you have no idea what you are doing.
