Questions and comments from a returned veteran

Dear community,

I bought BOS a while ago and had some fun with it, however i felt it needed some refinement.

When I returned and started a career on the german side w. Bf-109F at Moscow I felt much more at home ( I started with Forgotten Battles and went through em all, except Cliffs of Dover).

However, here are a few questions and comments of things I miss and don't understand in the game as it is right now:

- I really miss squadron markings etc on the planes. Would be so great to really have a different plane after yours got damaged or destroyed, even more to simply Identify the pilots or the rank by the markings...

- Why can't I contact ground control by myself?

- What, in general, happened to the features of the radio menu in Il2 1946? Contacting other flights, commanding your wingman, getting warnings when someone is at your six? Why don't they call for help when they are attacked? A lot of immersion and playability is lost here. I understand that it is quite complicated to do this right, but in an air combat simulator for minimum 50 bucks per expansion I simply expect this important part to be dealt with! Much more important than fancy explosions.

I put myself in as a voice for the german pilots if the devs need some!

- How is the KI behaving? When I'm number 4, am I supposed to cover No 3? When I am in command, why doesn't my wingman stay with me? Very important to have this! I don't understand the KI tactics.

- When I am about to fly hammerheads I miss rudder and elevator authority. Of course there is no airflow as speed is near zero. But as long as they are in the propwash i should still have theoption to"vector" my thrust. A2A simulations got this pretty well with their T-6 in FSX and P3D.

I don't want to diminish the devs work! This is by far the most notable successor to the Il-2 heritage, impressive and great fun!

Thank you for your thoughts and answers already.

Welcome Back !

I missed out on IL2 1946, which i've come to realise was my loss because lots of people here hold it in high esteem, and could never really bond with CloD, although that could change once VR is available for it.

When I play IL2 great battles I see it for the game that it is, without a point of reference to compare it to it's predecessors. IL2 + VR makes me an extremely happy bunny. I like the idea of squadrons having their own markings.

Not so sure about radio commands, as a VR user I would want an easy way to be able to navigate a comms menu. perhaps being able to use a hat switch and near by button to execute the command, but I think I am all out of unused hat switches lol.

In today's age of ongoing development, the product has, and will likely continue to evolve over time, and perhaps some of the things on your wish list will be integrated

Well, in the career mode you can select skin...but the problem is that it doesnt stick between missions...you really dont get a personal aircraft whic is a bummer. The

PWCG career mod solves most of that.

There’s a lot to wish for in terms of radio commands..for SP play its pretty unusable, and also annoying to hear the voice of your own pilot calling out attacks and kills (as if you wouldnt know whats happening). Of course, if and when this is improved, I hope that radio commands are only implemented in aircraft that had transmitters.

If you are squadron leader you will get a few radio commands though.

Wingmen are just stupid right now.
