Sharpen landscape filter makes graphics much better

I was pleasantly surprised that after I turned on "Sharpen landscape" filter the game started looking much better: almost all graphics flickering is now gone.

Kudos to the developers especially considering performance penalty appears to be minor, therefore I think this filter setting should be turned on by default.

For reference I tested it using "Kuban harbour" replay with my HS-129 attacking ground targets.

I use the following settings: 4xMSAA DSR 4k downsampled to 2k monitor, 70km view distance, ultra shadows, high grass, 4x object details, all on GTX1080 videocard and i5 CPU.

4x MSAA and DSR from 4k is a bit overkill no? I'd lower one of those settings and set the view distance to 150. I run the game absolutely maxed out on a 8700k and a 1070 but only at 1080p (which seems to be the limit since over that spotting becomes an issue) I am getting 120fps. You should definitely be able to turn up the view distance.

Agreed I much prefer to use the Sharpen setting also.

I agree that it looks very nice but I find enemy aircraft easier to see against the ground if I have that setting on "blurred". By "easier" I mean "possible"!

60fps is fine for me (also it is my monitor's limit). I fly close to the ground so view distance can be set to 70km. I didn't know spotting was an issue at higher resolutions, but I do find spotting very challenging in this game, even stationary targets,  like an artillery battery which is hard to distinguish from the ground when it is not firing.

For me this difficult spotting is part of the fun though (as is disabling all the computer aides and flying purely on cockpit instruments). I want the experience as real as possible, that's what makes this simulation so engrossing.
